Google Says Pixel 6a’s Fingerprint Scanner Is OK

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users have been complaining about the slow fingerprint scanner. For its part, the company stated that this behavior of the sensor is dictated by improved security algorithms. Users were not convinced by this, and many felt that the company did not recognize the problem at the hardware level and covered itself with improved security. However, Google has tried to solve the problem programmatically. And with the Pixel 6a, the problem may be gone.

In this regard, a number of users expressed skepticism regarding the performance of the Google Pixel 6a display scanner. They fear that the sensor of the new smartphone has inherited the problems that the scanner has in older versions. In this situation, Google Senior Vice President Rick Osterlo, in an interview with Android Central, said that the new smartphone received a different sensor than that installed in the Pixel 6.

Google Pixel 6a has a new fingerprint scanner

Users have to wait for the start of sales of the Google Pixel 6a and check how good the display fingerprint scanner in the smartphone is and whether it is slow. Recall that the smartphone is a simplified version of the Pixel 6, where a screen replacement, a less capacious battery and a change in the main sensor in the main camera made it possible to reduce the price tag from $600 to $450. Whether this will be enough to increase the army of Pixel users is a big question.

Google unveiled a number of new products at the Google I/O conference, including the mid-range Pixel 6a smartphone. As it turns out, the device does not have one of the important components that its predecessors had and was in demand by many users.

Google made special mention of the standard 3.5mm headphone jack on its Pixel A-series phones. The company even ran a two-minute advertisement for the Pixel 5A connector that parodied Apple’s design videos.

However, the Pixel 6a does not have a 3.5mm jack. Thus, consumers have to either use an adapter for a USB Type-C port; or buy wireless headphones with a Bluetooth connection.

So, the Google Pixel 6A has a 6.1-inch (2400 × 1080 pixels) FHD+ OLED HDR display and an octa-core Google Tensor processor. The amount of RAM LPDDR5 is 6 GB, the capacity of the flash drive is 128 GB. The front camera uses an 8-megapixel sensor. Also, at the back is a dual camera with a 12.2-megapixel sensor and optical stabilization; as well as a 12-megapixel unit with wide-angle optics. In addition, the smartphone runs the Android 12 operating system. The price is about $450.
