Elon Musk have finally taken over Twitter and right after taking over, a lot of Twitter top executives lost their jobs. This shows that he has his own plans for the Social Media platform. But no one knows his plans as at now, neither does anyone know what he could do next.
For this reason, a lot of users have started packing their belongings in search of a new social media. Something that works like Twitter or at least similar to Twitter. Social Media platforms like Discord, Mastodon and the rest are on the benefitting end.
Some Twitter Users Are Moving To Discord
A week ahead of Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover of Twitter, a writer by name Cassie LaBelle who happens to be part of a Transgender community on Twitter started her own Discord server. She wrote ” I don’t know if Musk will buy and destroy Twitter or not. But I hope my Discord server will be an interesting experiment.
Besides, the Discord server could be a safer space for the Transgender community she has developed over a decade to have their private interactions. For LaBelle, there is nothing like Twitter and no one has what Twitter has. Musk’s takeover does not mean LaBelle is leaving. She uses Twitter a lot for her works, but to be on a safer side, she needs to build a smaller version of her community on a safer platform.
Musk has said that he would reinstate former US president Donald Trump. He will also allow any tweet that does not break the law. However, he tweeted that he was not going to make any major decision until he has assembled a council of people. Those that would bring wide viewpoints on moderation. 
On other hand, some Twitter users are planning to flee the platform. Because they don’t want to feed free content to a platform with the World’s richest man as its owner.
We have come across quite a number of users who have begun sharing their information on Twitter. Most of this information are meant for their Twitter followers to find them on either Discord or Mastodon. These are also decentralized microblogging platforms that work like Twitter.

Mastodon Also Welcomed Some Users From Twitter
Platforms like Mastodon was one of the first beneficiaries of the Twitter evacuation. The CEO of Mastodon, Eugen Rochko said that between October 20 and 27, his platform welcomed about 18,000 new users. As of October 28, Mastodon had about 381,113 active users Rochko said.
The hashtag #TwitterMigration has been trending on Twitter for a while now. However, most of the users tweeting with this hashtag don’t seem ready to migrate now. They have created the Mastodon accounts in anticipation of any changes that may force them to leave.
Some Twitter users have already started adding their Mastodon accounts to the Twitter Bios. Others have their Mastodon accounts as their new Twitter handles.
Mastodon Reacting to this wrote “Looks like #Mastodon is trending on Twitter as more and more people are announcing their new profiles”.
Danny Groner, the marketing director for venture group Forecast Labs says that Twitter is the platform where he connects with people as a professional. And that he does not have any plans of quitting just yet. He however emphasized that he would also leave if there were any changes that allowed inappropriate contents to take over. 
Mastodon And Discord Are The New Backup Plan For Some Twitter Users
He then confessed that he has already created his Mastodon account on Thursday even though he doesn’t know much about the platform yet. But he just wants to have a backup plan just in case trolls and harassers fill up the Twitter platform.
He says: “It would be a real shame for him to lose this resource. There is a breaking point for me personally and morally. If I had to decide it’s time to close up my account and move on, I would have to be creative about how to replicate that success.”
Another Twitter user called Matt Haughey; the founder of the community blogging platform “MetaFilter” also made his stance clear. He said he doesn’t trust Musk’s judgement. And does not want to be part of a platform that he owns. He said: I don’t want to create value for him.
Haughey also said: “I don’t get paid to do it. It is a waste of my time if I’m not having fun with it.” At the time of writing this, he had already deleted all his tweets and updated his bio: I won’t tweet on any Musk owned platform.” It read.
