Apple M3 Pro launch timeline tipped; 12-Core Variant could be on the way

Apple M3 Pro

Apple stuck for a long time with the Apple M1 series before making way for the Apple M2 series. Apparently, we won’t have to wait much longer to see the first Apple M3-series chips. Today, we have interesting news regarding the next generation of Apple’s silicon. The latest report discloses the possible specs of the Apple M3 Pro and also a possible launch timeline for the new CPUs. Of course, these are rumors, and we don’t think Apple will disclose many details prior to the release of these chips.

As per the report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new Apple M3 Pro will not make its debut in 2023. In his “Power On” newsletter, he states that the M3 series will be delayed until the next year. As a result, the Apple A17 Bionic, presumably coming with the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max/Ultra will be Apple’s first and only 3nm chipset for 2023. Despite the delay, he also provides some details about the upcoming Apple M3 Pro.

Gizchina News of the week

“So what does the Apple M3 look like? Well, at least one version in testing has 12 CPU cores, 18 graphics cores, and 36 GB of memory. That’s according to data collected by an App Store developer and shared with Power On. The CPU, the chip’s main processor, is made of six high-performance cores that handle most intensive tasks and six efficiency cores that kick in for operations that need less power.”

As per Mark Gurman, the Apple M3 Pro will arrive in early 2024. It could mean the release of new Apple products featuring this chip between January and March 2024. The chipset has the same number of performance cores as the Apple M2, however, it boasts more efficiency cores. So Apple is boosting the efficiency of the Apple M3, which will already be improved by the newer, promising, 3nm manufacturing.

The new chipset is expected for future 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. With the gains in efficiency, their battery life should be improved. Worth noting that the new CPU may also have a beefy version with more CPU and GPU cores. Perhaps, an Apple M3 Ultra? We will have to wait and see. There is still half of 2023 and many months in 2024 for more details to appear, so don’t hold your breath.  The rumors also point to the launch of an Apple M3 Pro-powered iPad Pro with a 14.1-inch display.

As per a recent report, the delays are also associated with TMSC’s manufacturing of 3nm chips.
