The OnePlus 11 is the company’s latest release for the flagship market and its sequel should be a few months away. However, this fact does not prevent the first rumors about the OnePlus 12 from spreading. According to tipster Yogesh Brar, OnePlus plans to release the OnePlus 12 globally in Q1 2024. The global release should follow a Chinese release that could happen before December 2023. With that in mind, our first glimpse of the OnePlus 12 should be given in December. There are almost six months ahead, but the first rumors tease a proper upgrade with significant camera changes.
OnePlus 12 will come with improved cameras and more
Yogesh Brar’s report promises a plethora of key upgrades. The most noticeable changes will be in the camera department which has been claiming for upgrades in the past few years. The main sensor will see a replacement for a new module. Hopefully, we will see the same Sony IMX 989 1-inch sensor found in the Oppo Find X6 Pro and in a few other flagships like the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. The leak also mentions a new telephoto lens. The company plans to use the 32 MP Sony IMX709 RGBW in the telephoto camera setup, however, there will be an improved lens. Hopefully, this will boost the phone’s zooming capabilities to 3x optical zoom. Right now, the OnePlus 11 is capped at 2x zoom, which is not much when we look at the impressive numbers achieved by some flagships.

The OnePlus 12 will also sport an improved display. According to GSMArena, the company could use the LTPO4 OLED technology. The rumors also point to faster charging with the phone. The OnePlus 11 currently charges at 100W charging. However, we know that OnePlus can explore faster standards like 150W or even 240W. These technologies appeared on Realme and Oppo smartphones, and due to the close ties between these brands, we won’t be surprised to see them appearing on a OnePlus flagship. Since flagships tend to be more conservative, I would bet on the 150W charging standard coming with the OnePlus 12. Take this with a pinch of salt, as this is just a rumor for now. Once the phone goes through the 3C certification, we will know more details about the charging tech.
For now, we will need to wait for more details to appear. Don’t hold your breath, as there are a few months ahead of the OnePlus 12 launch. Honestly, we believe a OnePlus 11T will appear before.
