Meizu 21 with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC released

At the Meizu Autumn Unbounded Ecological Conference, Meizu’s latest phone, Meizu 21 was officially released. This new flagship device is the successor to the Meizu 20 which hit the market back in March this year. This device comes with the latest Snapdragon processor in the market as well as a couple of new Meizu technologies.

Display

The Meizu 21 continues the Meizu’s unbounded aesthetic design with a frame width of only 1.74mm. The company claims to challenge the world’s narrowest physical quadrilateral. The device comes with a 6.55-inch Samsung OLED flagship direct screen. The screen supports a professional-grade primary colour screen that supports 1920Hz high-frequency dimming. The display also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 1800nits, screen colour management, and 10,000-level dimming. Furthermore, Meizu said that this device has passed SGS low blue light certification and HDR10+ certification. The frame of the device also has ZREAL certification.

Design and Appearance

Meizu 21 has an ultra-reliable and precise body. The middle frame is made of new aviation aluminium. It is processed using the same CNC 4.5-axis machine tool used for aviation parts. It is precision assembled using a high-precision CCD automated production line. This device supports resistance to falls and pressure, and the body is more durable.

The new Meizu 21 is 7.9mm thick and weighs 198g. It is available in four colours, including Unbounded Black, Meizu White, Ruiyi Cyan, and Smart Purple. It uses a soft sand star glitter technology and has a delicate and silky touch. The rear camera module adopts a borderless narrow-edge lens design with a black-coated lens ring. The outer ring of the camera lens surface uses a fine nano-etching process to create a CD pattern.

In addition, the “Aicy Smart Ring” is an upgrade from Meizu’s first “Ring Flash”. This is a multi-scenario interactive ring light system. It outputs various light effects making games, music, notification reminders and other different scenes more interesting.

Meizu 21 adopts a new antenna architecture “Unbounded Antenna System 2.0”, which has a narrower antenna clearance area to achieve stronger signal performance and narrower borders. In comparison with the Meizu 20, the signal performance is better by 30%. The new phone also uses the new custom technology, mSmart Net. This feature supports full-scenario network optimization.

Chip and Performance

Under the hood, this device comes with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It also uses the Galaxy E8 dual flagship equipped with the Snapdragon 8295 which has made its global debut. The Geely Galaxy E8 is connected to the FlymeLink mobile phone domain and supports “three-finger task transfer” for the first time. It also supports new features such as “address transfer to get on the car”.

Meizu 21 comes with an ultrasonic fingerprint unlocking 2.0, mEngine Ultra, and sixth-generation master-level “dual” super linear speakers. The mEngine Ultra is the largest vibration motor in Android and Android’s first full-link vibration engine solution.

Camera

In the camera department, the Meizu 21 comes with a triple rear camera setup. It has a 200MP (Samsung S5KHP3, OIS) main camera as well as a 12MP ultra-wide angle (Samsung S5K3L6) and a 5MP depth portrait (Samsung S5K5E9) lens. On the front, there is a 32MP (Samsung S5KJD1) selfie camera. According to the company, Meizu 21’s true 200MP flagship imaging system is from Meizu and Samsung. With the support of Xingliu Imaging AI, it challenges the industry’s fastest 200MP photo output.

Battery

To keep its lights on, this device comes with a built-in 4800 mAh battery that supports 80W fast charging. According to Meizu, this device can get a  full 100% charge in 40 minutes. The Meizu 21 supports Meizu Ice World cooling technology, OneMind 10.5, and a total heat dissipation stack area of ​​37345mm². With these, it has achieved a different and better balance of performance and battery life.

In other aspects, Meizu 21 supports NFC and infrared remote control. It is the first device to come with the Flyme 10.5 system and adds an Aicy AI large model and Flyme AR.

Meizu 21 is now available for pre-sale and will go on sale at 10:00 on December 5. The prices of the different models are as follows
