Google continues its commitment to enhancing the Chrome browsing experience by introducing several noteworthy features in the latest Beta version, Chrome 122. While just days ago, we witnessed the integration of artificial intelligence features in Chrome 121, the current focus is on refining and expanding functionalities in the Beta channel.

Additionally, one notable addition is the “Help me write” feature, a tool familiar from other Google services like Gmail and Documents. In Chrome 122 Beta, this functionality undergoes testing. Allowing users to refine and edit text with a simple right-click on highlighted text or within an empty text field on a website. The rollout is currently limited to a select number of users in the United States. And a broader release is expected in due course.

Another enhancement is the introduction of the “Read Aloud” feature on Android devices with Chrome 122 Beta. This feature, identified by 9to5Google, enables users to have the browser read aloud any text displayed on the device screen. To activate this functionality, users can enable the chrome://flags#read-aloud flag.

Google also aims to simplify cross-device tab management in Chrome. So, in the 122 Beta version, a new section “Tabs from other devices” is introduced on the New Tab pages. This feature streamlines the process of switching between content opened on different devices. Eliminating the need to navigate through the History item in the overflow menu.

Also, for users who prefer using the browser for airline-related tasks, a new feature will arrive with the Chrome 122 Beta version. By enabling the chrome://flags#boarding-pass-detector flag, the browser will now detect boarding passes on Android devices. This functionality relies on a list of airline URLs provided by Google. With a local tool checking for the presence of airline barcodes on these pages. There are indications that this feature may extend to cover other modes of transportation in the future.

So, as Google continues to invest resources in refining its browser, users can anticipate a more feature-rich and user-friendly Chrome experience with each update. The gradual rollout of these enhancements ensures a systematic and controlled deployment. Enhancing stability and functionality across various regions and user demographics.
