Only two iPhone models set to get Apple Intelligence features later this year

Apple Intelligence

Apple’s big WWDC event unveiled exciting advancements. Among them is the powerful new AI system, Apple Intelligence. While iOS 18 boasts deeper AI integration, there’s a catch: only certain iPhone models can leverage its full potential.

Holders of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max rejoice! These models, packing the A17 Pro, are the only iPhones currently confirmed to run Apple Intelligence features. This suggests that future iPhone 16 Pro models might join the club, but for now, the party is exclusive.

Similar limitations apply to iPads and Macs. To experience Apple Intelligence’s magic, you’ll need an M1 chip or newer. This means all these devices are in the compatible list:

  • iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
  • iPad Pro, iPad Air (M1 onwards)
  • MacBook Pro (M1 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (M1 or newer
  • iMac (M1 or newer)
  • Mac mini (M1 or newer)
  • Mac Pro (M2 Ultra or newer)
  • Mac Studio (M1 Max and newer)

So, what about older devices? Fear not; Apple will offer them some AI features. But they’ll rely on cloud processing. This limits the on-device functionality available on the newer chipsets.

The takeaway? If you want the full Apple Intelligence experience on a phone, upgrade to an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.
