Galaxy A16 5G launched: Mid-Range device with Six-Year Support

Galaxy A16 5G

Samsung has quietly launched its latest mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A16 5G, in Europe. This phone is the successor to last year’s Galaxy A15 5G and comes with some notable upgrades. It boasts a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display, featuring a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen is slightly larger than its predecessor, offering users a smoother and more immersive visual experience. One change under the hood is the shift from the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chip back to Samsung’s in-house Exynos 1330 chipset, ensuring solid performance for everyday tasks.

The camera setup remains consistent with what was seen in the A15 5G. The Galaxy A16 5G retains its triple camera system, featuring a 50MP main shooter, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. For selfies, there’s a 13MP front camera, ensuring good-quality shots in most lighting conditions. These features make the phone a solid option for users who enjoy photography without the need for a high-end device.

Running on Android 14 with Samsung’s One UI 6, the Galaxy A16 5G offers an intuitive user experience. Samsung has committed to supporting this device with six years of software updates and six years of security updates, a first for its mid-range series. This means the phone will be supported until at least October 2030, offering long-term value for buyers who plan to use their device for an extended period.

In terms of audio, Samsung has removed the 3.5mm headphone jack, which might be a disappointment for some users. Additionally, stereo speakers are still missing, though the phone does include bottom-ported speakers. The device is powered by a 5000mAh battery, which supports 25W fast charging, although the charger is sold separately. This battery capacity should provide enough power to last through the day for most users.
