It seems that the partnership between Samsung and Qualcomm continues for another Galaxy Z Fold generation. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite. The device has been spotted with this chip in the Geekbench benchmark. The next foldable smartphone has model number SM-F966N, revealing two big cores at 4.47GHz, which confirms an overclocked variant.
Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy is Coming in the Z Fold7
As usual, the smartphone will not only come with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It will be an overclocked variant, the so-called Snapdragon for Galaxy. The device scores 2,617 points in the Single-Core tests and 9,369 in the Multi-Core tests. The remaining cores in the Octa-Core architecture are clocked at 3.53 GHz. The scores may not be so impressive when compared with other Snapdragon 8 Elite smartphones, and this shouldn’t be the case of an overclocked variant. However, keep in mind that this is likely a pre-production model. The final product should have higher scores and be more optimized.
Interestingly, the benchmark shows it is running Android 16, which confirms One UI 8. This has been confirmed by Samsung, and both the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 will run Android 16-based One UI 8 straight out of the box. The N at the end of the model code confirms this is the Korean variant of the upcoming smartphone.
As far as the rumors are concerned, Samsung will bring some major improvements in comparison to the Galaxy Z Fold6. With the advancement of competition in this field, we seriously expect some changes to make the Galaxy Z Fold7 more appealing. While Samsung still stands as one of the major forces in this field, it can lose some ground if it continues to keep a conservative approach in the foldable segment.
We expect more leaks to pop out as the launch comes near.
