Samsung Adds Live Election Updates to Always On Display with New AOD App Update

Samsung just released a new update for its Always On Display (AOD) app. It’s now at version 8.8.45.20, and the update is live in South Korea. This new update comes as an addition to Samsung’s long-term plan of enhancing the user experience of its One UI system.

There is a new feature in the Now Bar, which sits on the AOD screen. This time, it’s all about the elections. Samsung worked with Naver to show real-time voting updates.

You don’t need to unlock your phone. Just glance at your screen and you’ll see the latest election info — fast and easy.

Small Fixes Too

Besides the election feature, Samsung also fixed a few bugs. These were minor issues, but the update helps the AOD run better and feel smoother.

This update is only for Galaxy phones in South Korea. Your phone must be running One UI 7 or newer. The Now Bar only works on those versions. Samsung has not spoken about expanding this feature to other parts of the world yet. As an exclusive feature to its home region, the South Korean tech giant might not have plans to expand this feature anytime soon, especially considering the nature of elections in other parts of the world and available infrastructure.

To update, go to:
Galaxy Store > Menu > Updates
Or you can use a third-party link if needed.

What’s Coming Next?

Samsung is testing One UI 8 right now. The Now Bar is getting more tools in this version. You might soon be able to:

  • Answer calls

  • Turn on Do Not Disturb

  • Use more shortcuts — all without unlocking your phone
