Oh boy, I see some serious lawsuits coming for this small Thai company that just unveiled a smartphone that goes under the name iMI X and – as you will soon find out – it’s a combination of Xiaomi’s Mi6 and Apple’s iPhone X! Yeah, we’re not joking!
The device was just unveiled duringΒ Thailand Mobile Expo 2017 that took place a couple of days ago (late September) and it really impressed everyone there with the… nerve of the officials to copy these two companies at such an extend! If you take a look at the back of the iMI X you will that it has a logo that resembles the one Xiaomi has, but they have added a small i prefix (just like Apple does to all their products).
This… “king of clones” has the design of the iPhone X model, the same dual camera setup on its back, a 5,7 inch full screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio, along with a facial scanner – similar (but in no way the same) as Apple’s FaceID feature. It uses the same glass design the iPhone X and Mi 6 models have on their backs, and comes in two storage variants!Β
One with 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM, 13MP main sensor (no word on the second sensor), an 8MP selfie camera with iris scanner, and another variant with 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM with a 16MP main sensor (no word on the second sensor), with a 13MP selfie camera placed in front (with the same facial recognition features). Both variants run on Android 7.0.1 Nougat with the company’s iMI UI (get it? i-MIUI?) interface sprinkled on top!
If you’re interested to buy this… abomination of technology you will be happy to know that it only costs 4,990 Thai Baht (~$150) for the 3GB variant andΒ 5,990 THBΒ (~$180) for the more powerful 4GB RAM version. Please, do let me know what you think!
Cool, would love to get my hands on one! LOL.:D
I plan to buy one next month in Thailand to test out.
If this is a Thai company, good luck suing them. Copyright law in Thailand is a complete and utter joke. Checking with all my contacts in the Thai tech industry no one can find any information on this company, it appears to be a Chinese company that is just selling them in Thailand, which makes any chance at a lawsuit even less.
holy sh** !
let me know about the phone deets !

Isn’t that almost the old Umi logo?
The umi logo was ripped off from Xiaomi π but yes, the old logo is familiar to that as it violates Xiaomi trademarks!

Aren’t the chinese saying copying is the best way of flattery? Lets see if it still is!
How someone can rip off others peoples trademarks so shamelessly is beyond what I can grasp.
Ok ok guys the phone is decent in design and specs. No need to call it “abomination of tech”.
Let’s focus on the real culprit here… “The abomination of companies”, “The abominations of massed brain people working in a low OEM company”, “The abomination of copycats” etc.
But please, the phone does not deserve such harsh words π
I think its awesome and only fair to make such design’s available to all so cheap.. even effin apple copies shit from others… it think this is just great… wish only a proper known name could have done it. I think we need to respect these small firms to make this tech available to all.. it’s not like they’re selling iPhone X at such a small price… get a Life.. !!

That’s nothing wrong there. Since when China makers aren’t copying? All Chinese phones are copied from the US, Japan and Korea. Even the jet fighters and Aircraft carrier are copied.
So why the disgusts?
