If you see the IOCO S1000 listed online, you will want to read this article very carefully to make sure you get exactly what you expect as there are two versions with the same name but very different specifications!
Fist up there is the IOCO S1000 HD, it’s not clear if this is a 1080 or 720 screen, but we do know that the phone get’s a 5-inch display, 1GB RAM, a 1.2 Ghz quad-core MT6589 CPU and a body which is very similar in looks to the JiaYu G5!
Gizchina News of the week
Like the JiaYu G5 the IOCO S1000 HD get’s a 5-inch display and a very iPhone looking appearance. In fact the S1000 goes a step further and looks to come with an iOS skin on its Android operating system.
The second version of the IOCO S1000 is the phone you can see on the right. The overall design is similar, but less iPhone inspired. The display is a smaller 4.3-inch WVGA unit, and the processor and RAM are downgraded to a dual-core MT6517 chip and just 512MB RAM.
We don’t know when wither phone will be available, but we do know that the 4.3-inch dual-core version is going to be quite pricey at $153!
If anyone is wondering what a MTK6517 is, it’s a MTK6577 which uses TD-CDMA instead of W-CDMA for the 3G connection. This means it is not usable in Europe, probably the same for the US too.
Hmm, Jiayu G5 is supposed to have 4.5 inch screen, no? And the above phone got very fat borders all around. So, this ugly outdated phone has nothing in common with G5, just the same processor.
Yeah, that fat borders are not from a 5″ phone.
And if some chinese smartphone is looking exactly like another chinese smartphone is only because they are made in the same factory. π NingBo, maybe? π
