GMKtec has announced that early-access registration for its upcoming GMKtec EVO-X3 desktop AI workstation will open on June 22, ahead of the system's global launch on June 29. Rather than positioning the device as a conventional mini PC, the company says the EVO-X3 represents a new category of compact AI-focused workstations designed for local computing.

Powered by AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU, the system combines CPU, GPU, and dedicated AI acceleration into a unified platform aimed at developers, content creators, and enterprise users seeking powerful on-device AI capabilities.

GMKtec EVO-X3 aims to redefine the desktop AI workstation

According to GMKtec, the shift toward local AI processing is driving demand for systems capable of running large language models and AI workloads without relying on cloud infrastructure. The company says the GMKtec EVO-X3 has been built around this trend, offering high performance, lower latency, improved privacy, and full offline capability.
Despite its compact footprint, which GMKtec compares to the size of a PlayStation 4, the system is designed to handle demanding workloads such as AI inference, 3D rendering, video production, and professional design tasks.
At launch, the GMKtec EVO-X3 will be offered with AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, while a more powerful Ryzen AI Max+ 495 variant is expected to arrive later in 2026.

Built for AI, creators, and enterprise deployments

GMKtec says the GMKtec EVO-X3 addresses three primary use cases. Developers and enthusiasts can run and test AI models locally, creative professionals can benefit from sustained performance for content creation tasks, and enterprise users can deploy the system in education, healthcare, government, and edge computing environments.
The mini workstation supports up to 128 GB of memory and configurations with 2 TB or 4 TB of storage, while the platform itself can accommodate up to 16 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage. A triple-fan cooling system allows the AMD APU to reach up to 140 W of peak performance.
Connectivity options include an OCuLink Gen 4 port for PCIe expansion, a 40 Gbps USB4 port, HDMI 2.1, and Wi-Fi 7 support. The integrated Radeon 8060S graphics are capable of delivering performance roughly comparable to an RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, potentially eliminating the need for an external graphics card for many users.
