Google's next smartwatch has kept a lower profile than the heavily covered
Pixel 11 series. That changes today. Tipster OnLeaks, working alongside
The Tide Chart, has posted press-style renders of the Pixel Watch 5 — and the first clear takeaway is that Google isn't changing its winning formula.
Summary
- Same design language as Pixel Watch 4: Curved, domed glass, side charging pins, and Google's proprietary band-attachment system all return unchanged.
- 41mm and 45mm sizes confirmed: Each available in Wi-Fi-only and LTE variants.
- Four colors for 41mm, three for 45mm: Dark Anthracite, Natural Silver, Pyrite, and Warm Gold for the smaller model. The larger skips Warm Gold.
- Wear OS 7 out of the box: Confirmed as the launch software alongside the Pixel 11 series on August 12.
- ~$50 price increase expected: Pixel Watch 4 started at $349 (41mm) — Watch 5 is tipped at around $399/$449 depending on size.
The Design: Familiar on Purpose
Pixel Watch 5 looks like Pixel Watch 4. That's not damning — the circular domed glass design is distinctive in a wearables market dominated by rectangular displays and Samsung's now-ubiquitous round Galaxy Watch shape. Google spent two generations establishing this aesthetic. Changing it for the fifth iteration would be a bigger risk than keeping it.
The proprietary band system returns too, which means Pixel Watch 4 bands will fit the Watch 5. That's a practical benefit for existing owners considering an upgrade — no need to replace accessories.
Colors: The 41mm Gets the Better Options
The 41mm model comes in four finishes: Dark Anthracite, Natural Silver, Pyrite (a warm gold-beige), and Warm Gold. The 45mm drops Warm Gold from the lineup, leaving buyers of the larger case with three options. It's a small but real distinction between sizes that's worth knowing before choosing.
What Else Is Expected
The renders show what the Watch 5 looks like. They don't tell us what's inside. Beyond confirmed design details, rumors point to modestly larger batteries than the Pixel Watch 4, which would help with the Watch's historically tight battery life — the Watch 4 averaged around 24 hours with always-on display off. If the Watch 5 clears that to 30+ hours, it changes the daily charging calculus meaningfully.
Wear OS 7 is the software layer landing on launch day. The Pixel Watch has always been the most complete Wear OS experience available, and Wear OS 7's new features — announced at Google I/O — should show best on Google's own hardware first. Full tech specs and confirmed pricing arrive on August 12.
