The Honor 500 series is now official in China, and it
arrives with a full design refresh. Both the Honor 500 and the 500 Pro bring noticeable upgrades over the older Honor 400 models, not only in looks but also in performance and battery life. Without further ado, let's dive into the key specs and features offered with the new phones.
Honor 500 and Honor 500 Pro - A Design Overhaul With a Big Jump in Specifications
The new design is the first thing that stands out.
Honor went with a camera visor on the back that resembles the iPhone Air’s camera layout. In fact, it brings the so-called visor design for the cameras. Both models use aluminum frames, glass backs, and keep a slim profile at 7.8 mm. The weight sits at 198 g for the regular model and 201 g for the Pro. Durability remains strong, as both phones come with full IP68 and IP69K protection.
On the front, the
Honor 500 and
500 Pro share the same 6.55-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1,264 x 2,736 resolution. The screen hits a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 6,000 nits in local areas. Each phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner and a 50 MP selfie camera in a centered punch-hole.
Snapdragon Power, Massive Batteries and Powerful 200MP Cameras
Design is certainly a new thing here, but the bigger changes are underneath. The Honor 500 Pro runs on the
Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The standard Honor 500 uses the
Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip. Both still offer more than enough power, but the Pro clearly sits a step above. In case you're wondering why there is no Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, it's worth remembering that the
Honor 500 series isn't Honor's flagship lineup. Still, these chipsets are in the flagship territory even for current standards.
The rear camera setup is similar on both models, at least at first glance. You get a 200 MP main sensor and a 12 MP ultrawide lens. The Honor 500 Pro adds a third lens, a 50 MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, giving it more range and better versatility. The Honor 500 will deliver a superb camera experience, but the Pro take the capabilities further with advanced zoom.
Obviously, the battery life is a key highlight this year. Honor was a pioneer in the field of Silicon Carbon tech for batteries. So its devices need to excel in this area, and fortunately, this is the case. Both phones include large 8,000 mAh Si-C batteries, which certainly means they're designed for two-day use. They support 80W wired charging and up to 27W reverse wired charging. The Pro version adds 50 W wireless charging as a bonus. Both handsets run
MagicOS 10 based on Android 16.
The Honor 500 lineup will be available in Aquamarine, Starlight Powder, Moonlight Silver, and Obsidian Black. Pre-orders are already live in China, and shipments begin on November 27.
