Honor officially confirmed on October 14 that its upcoming
gaming tablet, the WIN Pad, will use the
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The original Weibo post and promotional poster used the more general name “Snapdragon 8 Gen 5,” which caused confusion about the exact processor.
Honor later updated the promotional material to confirm the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform.
The naming confusion may have left some users unsure about the tablet's actual hardware. That detail matters for a device built around gaming performance. However, the chipset name alone does not show how well the tablet will perform during long gaming sessions. Cooling, power consumption, and software optimization will also play a role.
Honor WIN Pad Combines a 240Hz Display With Active Cooling
One of the tablet's main features is its 240Hz OLED display. Honor calls it the first gaming OLED panel of its kind to offer this refresh rate. That is the manufacturer's claim, and independent verification is not yet available.
According to IT Home, the display has a resolution of 2304 × 1440 pixels and uses Honor Oasis technology designed to protect users' eyes. Other reports, including information shared by leaker Digital Chat Station, put the screen size at 8.4 inches.
The tablet will use Honor's Dongfeng cooling system with a built-in turbine fan to manage heat. The company has already used similar technology in its WIN gaming phones.
Active cooling could help the tablet maintain performance during extended gaming sessions. However, a built-in fan also raises questions about noise, thickness, and weight. Honor has yet to provide details on these aspects.
10,000mAh Battery for Demanding Gaming Sessions
According to information shared at a press event, the Honor WIN Pad will pack a 10,000mAh battery. That is a substantial capacity for a gaming tablet, although actual battery life will depend on the chipset's power consumption, screen brightness, and whether the display runs at 240Hz.
A larger battery can also add to a device's size and weight. Honor has not confirmed the tablet's dimensions or weight, and charging speeds remain unknown as well.
Pricing and availability outside China have not been announced. The WIN series has so far been sold only in China, so an international release should not be taken for granted until Honor confirms its plans.
MagicOS 11 and an October 21 Launch Date
IT Home reports that a demonstration unit at the press event ran MagicOS 11, based on Android 17. The tested configuration had 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It is not yet clear whether Honor will offer other memory and storage options.
The tablet's USB-C port reportedly supports the USB 3.2 standard. Honor has also announced an improved Game Center, which should offer more ways to adjust performance to suit individual preferences. The available information does not yet explain the full range of settings or their effects on performance, temperatures, and power consumption.
Honor plans to officially unveil the WIN Pad on October 21, 2026, alongside the Honor WIN 2 phone series. Pricing, international availability, and several hardware details remain unknown ahead of the launch.
