iQOO has officially confirmed that its new
Neo12 smartphone will arrive in late October
. Luo Feng, the company's vice president of products, announced the timing at a display technology event held on October 14 by Visionox, iQOO, and Tsinghua University.
The presentation itself only mentioned October, with Luo Feng providing the more specific late-October window. iQOO has yet to announce an exact launch date or pricing. The wait should not be long, but several key details remain unknown.
iQOO Neo12 Brings a 2K 185Hz Super Crown Display
The Neo12's main feature is its Super Crown display, which uses pTSF technology. It offers a 2K resolution and a 185Hz refresh rate. iQOO claims it is the first panel of its kind to combine this technology, resolution, and refresh rate. That claim applies to this specific panel design, rather than meaning that 185Hz smartphone displays have never existed before.
The company has also introduced a new light-emitting material called Sky Mirror and a dedicated display controller designed to handle 2K resolution at 185Hz. iQOO highlights industry-first claims for these technologies as well.
The panel is rated for a peak full-screen brightness of 2,200 nits. Other features include XDR dynamic range technology, second-generation circularly polarized display technology, and a 1-nit brightness mode for use in dark environments.
Independent testing will show whether these changes produce a noticeable improvement over existing smartphone displays.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Active Cooling
The Neo12 will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with iQOO's Q3 gaming chip and the latest Monster Super Core Engine. It will also feature Ice Dome active air cooling with a built-in fan.
Active cooling can help remove heat during long gaming sessions and reduce performance drops caused by overheating. However, a moving part also introduces potential concerns about fan noise and dust resistance. The actual cooling benefits and long-term reliability remain untested.
iQOO is also promoting several gaming features. Its 2K 185 FPS technology combines resolution upscaling with frame generation to produce smoother visuals at high refresh rates.
The company says the phone will be among the first devices to support native 2K gaming and that more than 50 games are expected to support frame rates of up to 185 FPS. Other features include ray tracing, gaming filters, image enhancements, a gaming camera, and technology designed to reduce distracting reflections. The phone will also share Q-flex control technology with the iQOO 16.
9,000mAh Battery, Metal Frame, and Unknown Pricing
The iQOO Neo12 will pack a 9,000mAh battery using fifth-generation silicon-anode technology, with an energy density of 916Wh/L. iQOO says the battery uses a single-cell design.
The phone will also have a metal frame, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reader, and a square Deco-style camera design. iQOO positions the Neo series as a second flagship line alongside its main numbered series, which includes the iQOO 16.
Pricing and availability outside China have not been announced.
