Huawei's next tri-fold phone is almost here. The Mate XT 2 is set to launch on September 7, but pre-orders have already opened in China. And according to reports, Huawei's initial pre-order stock disappeared in just two seconds.
That's a pretty strong start for one of the company's most ambitious phones yet.

Storage versions

Huawei has confirmed four storage versions, all with 16GB of RAM. Buyers will be able to choose between 512GB and 1TB models, while two higher-end versions add a privacy display. The most expensive model pushes storage all the way to 2TB and also includes a stylus. That is a pretty good deal in my opinion.
There is one small detail, though. That 16GB+2TB version will only be available in Purple.

The price

The Mate XT 2 itself comes in three colors: Obsidian Black, Pure White, and Purple. The Purple version looks particularly interesting thanks to its marble-like finish.
Huawei still hasn't revealed the official pricing. The previous Mate XT started at 17,999 yuan, so the new model is expected to cost somewhere around 20,000 yuan, or roughly $2,800. For now, though, that's just a leak tho. Huawei should reveal the real numbers during the launch event.

Hardware and battery

As for the hardware, the Mate XT 2 is expected to use Huawei's Kirin 9050 Pro chip alongside a large 6,000mAh battery. It will also become the first smartphone to launch with HarmonyOS 7.
Huawei executive Yu Chengdong has also made a bold claim about the design. According to him, the Mate XT 2 will be the thinnest foldable phone on the market when opened, measuring just 3.5mm thick.
We'll know all the official details very soon. But if the reported pre-order demand is anything to go by, Huawei may already have another hit on its hands.
