The team behind the
CyanogenMOD custom ROM have announced that they will be launching two version of the
ROM to suit
developers and regular users.
At this years Big
Android BBQ, CyanogenMOD announced that they would offer 2 versions of their popular
ROM for users to choose. CyanogenMOD
Community Edition will be the new
name for the version of the
ROM you might well be using at this moment, and will is designed for
development and ease of hacking.
On the other hand CyanogenMOD
PRO will be the option non
developers would choose, basically giving you all the benefits of the
ROM without the need for tinkering and hacking. Just to confirm
PRO is the non
developer version while Community is for hackers (strange we know).
The main differences between the two ROM versions will be that the Community Edition will allow users to debug themselves, the ROM will be rooted as default and the whole system will be set up to aid development. CyanogenMOD Pro will be designed to be secure, will not come rooted (but this will be available) and will receive bi-monthly updaters.
