MIUI 6 was announced back in July last year, alongside the erstwhile Xiaomi flagship, the Mi 4. The Mi 4 has since been replaced by the Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro, but MIUI 6 still isn't available for many Xiaomi phones.
The
Redmi Note 4G, however, isn't one of those. Users of the popular Xiaomi phone in
India today reported getting an
OTA update to the latest MIUI interation. The update measures a hefty 570MB in size, so make sure you're on a stable WiFi network before attempting the upgrade.
If you haven't gotten a notification yet, you can check for the availability of the ROM by going into Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates. Also, the MIUI 6 ROM although is a complete rebuild, it doesn't bring a change in the
Android version you're running on the phone.
The Mi 4 which Xiaomi launched in India in January comes with MIUI 6 out of the box, whereas the Mi 3 received the update a couple months back. The Redmi Note 3G, and the entry-level Redmi 1S are the ones in queue for the update next.
