Samsung plays a very conservative game when it comes to fast-charging technologies. Some reports say that this is due to the Galaxy Note 7's fiasco, where a failure in the battery tech forced the company to go through the industry's biggest smartphone recall to date. Since then, we haven't seen the brand pushing new limits in the fast-charging tech. While the Chinese brands are going insane with 100W, 120W, and even 200W charging, most of the companies are stuck to 25W charging or 45W in the best scenario. Unfortunately, this isn't always the case with the flagships, and apparently, it won't be the case with the Galaxy S26. To make things more surprising, Samsung's upcoming mid-range king - the Galaxy A57
might charge at 45W, faster than the company's next flagship.
Samsung Galaxy A57 5G Coming With 45W Charging, Galaxy S26 and S26+ with 25W
According to the
3C listing, the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G (SM-A5760) will support 45W fast-charging. The listing reveals support for 10V/4.5A and 15V/3A wired charging. This is not on par with the best charging options we see on some competitors, but it's still the best Samsung offer at the moment.
It's great to see the A57 5G advancing in this aspect, since most of its competitors will charge twice as fast. At the same time, this news is disappointing for potential Galaxy S26 and S26+ owners. The leaks suggest the new flagships will charge with 25W charging.
The
Samsung Galaxy S26 and
S26+ will offer a better chipset, cameras, build quality,
sleek design, and other features. However, they will still charge slowly if we consider the market's current standards.
It's a Needed Charging Bump for the A5x Series
It makes sense for Samsung to bump the speed of its Galaxy A57 5G. The phone will compete with the likes of the POCO X8, OnePlus 15R, which offer bigger batteries and faster charging technologies. So it's natural to see Samsung walking beyond 45W. Unfortunately, it seems that 2026 won't be the year when Samsung will go beyond this threshold.
