Samsung revamped its mid-range and low-end lineups way back in 2019 with the launch of the Galaxy A and M-series. Back then, the company tried with multiple "families", starting with the
Samsung Galaxy A10 to the Galaxy A90. However, not all "families" made the final cut to get yearly releases. The
Galaxy A90 and the legendary full-screen
Galaxy A80 had their families scrapped, and then, in the following year, the
Galaxy A71 became the highest offering in the A-series. The Galaxy A7x series survived until 2022 with the launch of the
Samsung Galaxy A73, and then Samsung decided to kill this lineup as well and focus on the most successful Galaxy A50 series. However, it seems that 2026 will be the year of
return for the Galaxy A70 series - A device dubbed Galaxy A77 was spotted on Geekbench benchmark.
Samsung Galaxy A77 Appears on Geekbench With Exynos 2400
A prototype of the A77 has been
spotted in the Geekbench online database. The device ran the benchmark with 8 GB of RAM, Android 16, and a mystery chipset that's related to Samsung's
Exynos 2400 and 2400e, but based on the CPU clock configuration, it is lower-end than both of those. Still, the Exynos 2400 is of a flagship nature. Its performance might not be on par with current flagships, but it was one of Samsung's best offerings for its smartphones.
This particular SoC has a CPU with three Prime cores clocked at up to 2.78 GHz, three performance cores at up to 2.3 GHz, and four efficiency cores clocked at up to 1.82 GHz. It is still a Deca-Core CPU like the
Exynos 2400 and 2400e, but the CPU clocks are lower. We may see a decrease in the max performance, but it shouldn't be noticed by the general user.
A New Upper-Mid-Range Offering From Samsung
Considering the leak, the
Samsung Galaxy A77 could fit on an upper-mid-range market, or a cost-effective flagship (keeping Samsung's portfolio in mind). The company might be looking for a good use for all
Exynos 2400 chips that are still lying around.
Hopefully, the
Samsung Galaxy A77 won't be too expensive. After all, if it gets close to the Galaxy S26, then it could become pointless. The device is expected to launch in March next year alongside the
Samsung Galaxy A57, marking the return of the best-selling duo. We expect more details to appear in due time.
