Samsung is preparing to release its first tri-fold mobile phone. A new patent has now revealed some details about what to expect. At the moment, there is no launch date for this device. But a recent filing with the Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) suggests the phone, likely named the Galaxy Z Tri-Fold, will come with three batteries.

Each section of the phone is said to have its own power cell. This makes it more balanced and efficient. This is a clear sign that Samsung is serious about pushing foldable phone design.

Design and Battery Layout

Because of its tri-fold design, the phone is divided into three connected panels. According to the patent sketches, each section houses its own battery cell.
The smallest unit (T1) sits in the part of the phone that contains the triple rear camera setup. The second largest battery (T3) is located in the section that holds the cover display. The largest cell (T2) sits in the middle segment. This is the part of the phone that folds between the other two panels when the phone is closed.
The document doesn’t include details about the exact battery sizes or total capacity. Even so, the use of multiple batteries suggests Samsung is aiming to make the phone run more smoothly and last longer. This also makes the phone feel better balanced than its current foldable phones.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 offers a modest 4400 mAh battery and just 25W wired charging. Many fans are hoping the Tri-Fold will finally deliver stronger battery performance. There are also hopes that it will come with faster charging speeds.

A Peek at the Tri-Fold’s Concept

The patent sketches also give an early look at how the device folds and where key components might sit. The design looks to have a more advanced hinge system than the Galaxy Z Fold series.
This lets the phone fold in two places instead of just one. This setup could give users more flexibility. It will also allow the device to shift from a small, folded phone to a wide, tablet-style screen when open.

Launch and Availability

There have been some rumours about the launch of the Galaxy Z Tri-Fold phone. Some report claims that Samsung may limit the phone to South Korea and China. But newer leaks claims that it could also launch in the US market.
The latest rumour points to a possible unveiling toward the end of October. However, Samsung has yet to give an official launch date for this device.
The tri-fold isn’t the only major product expected from Samsung this month. Samsung is also getting ready to show off its first Android XR headset. This device is known by its codename Project Moohan.
Reports say people in South Korea will be able to sign up early. The signup will commence from October 15 and it will end on October 21. The official launch should take place the next day, on October 22.
