This year’s MWC (Mobile World Conference) which is set to end tomorrow has been a positive
Android love fest, with practically all the top
mobile phones and tablets
launched seen equipped with the Google developed
mobile operating system.
One of the stars of the
show, however was
Nvidia’s latest
mobile chip set. Known as the Kal-El the
mobile CPU features a
quad-core design and promising to bring serious processing power to
mobile devices such as
mobile phones and tablets.
The feature packed CPU, which was demonstrated in a custom made
tablet computer, is said to use less power than the current dual-core Tegra
chipset which will allow
tablet OEM manufacturers the ability to run higher resolution
retina displays without sacrificing
battery life.
Kal-El sample chips are already on route to manufacturers and Nvidia predict we should start seeing Quad-core Kal-El devices by the end of 2011.
The Kal-El
chipset is said to be clocked at around 1.5Ghz, which in real world terms means it’s more than capable of running the ported Xbox 360 game as demoed on the 10 inch
tablet the
show model currently lives inside.
