Sharp Unveils 7-inch Galapagos tablet

Sharp might not be at the forefront of consumer electronics in a consumers mind, but the Japanese manufacturer produce some of the best touch screens in the business, screens so good that Apple and many Android tablet makers are starting to look in to the screen.

But you don't need to wait for a third party manufacturer to make a Sharp screen tablet, as the company themselves has announced their 7-inch Galapagos tablet.

Those of you who had previously read about Sharp's tablet market plans may remember the company planned 3 tablets, however the dropped 2 and look to be testing the water with this 7-inch model.

The 7-inch Galapagos gets a lovely looking screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600, a dual core CPU and 1GB RAM. There will also be 8GB of built in storage, with the option to expand via SD card.

Sharp have also built 2 cameras in to the Honeycomb 3.2 device, the front being a 2mp unit while the rear is a 5mp snapper.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but Japanese buyers will be able to pick up a 7-inch Galapagos tablet from Sharp on 17th December.
