Xiaomi's M1
Android smartphone, may well be the new kid on the block, but the smart
dual core Android handset has been stirring up a fuss!
The M1, the first
phone from software come hardware maker, Xiaomi, has been in short supply since it's launch a few months ago. Problems in the supply chain have meant M1's haven't been getting in to
stores and only those who pre ordered the
phone have managed to get one.
However, this is all about to change with the first batch of freshly made M1's making their way in to
stores for general sale this Sunday 18th December.
All of this
news is surely disconcerting to other mobile
phone makers in
China, we're looking at you Meizu, and it's about to get tougher if today's rumors turn out to be true!
China Unicom Have Ordered 2 million Xiaomi M1 Phones!
Rumors doing the rounds today report that
China Unicom, the same official carrier of the iPhone 4 (and iPhone 4S come January) have placed a huge order of 2 million M1's to Xiaomi.
If the
news is true it would mean the M1 would only be available either through the Xiaomi online store or or through
China Unicom stores.
The news, if true, couldn't have come at a worse time for Meizu, who are likely to find it a struggle to sell their newly launched
MX phone against the Xiaomi whose specification is very similar but price at more than $100 less!
We're not sure if the Xiaomi is worthy of all the hype it is creating as we haven't tried one as of yet, BUT we have a feeling this will change after tomorrow (wink, wink, nudge, nudge!)
