Vivo's V70 Elite just
launched as the top model in their
V-series lineup. The company crammed flagship specs into what they're calling a "mid-range" phone, though the pricing and hardware tell a different story.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 handles processing duties. That's Qualcomm's step-down flagship chip—faster than true mid-range silicon but slightly behind the absolute top-tier 8 Gen 3. RAM reaches 12GB using LPDDR5X memory. Storage tops at 512GB on UFS 4.1 standards, which matches flagship phones entirely.
Key Points:
- Vivo V70 Elite launches with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, 512GB UFS 4.1 storage
- Triple camera includes 50MP main (Sony LYT-700V) and 50MP 3x telephoto (IMX882) both with OIS
- 6.59-inch AMOLED claims 5,000 nits peak brightness with ultrasonic fingerprint sensor
- 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery with 90W charging, IP68/IP69 durability ratings
- Priced ₹51,999-₹61,999 ($571-$681) with four OS updates and six years security patches
This combination delivers performance way above typical mid-rangers. Whether it's actually "mid-range" at ₹61,999 for the maxed spec is debatable.
Screen Claims Wild Brightness
Display measures 6.59 inches using AMOLED tech at FHD+ resolution. Refresh rate adapts up to 120Hz. Peak local brightness allegedly hits 5,000 nits, which sounds absurd. Most flagship phones peak around 2,000-3,000 nits maximum. Marketing probably measured this under extremely specific conditions that don't reflect real usage.
Fingerprint sensor uses ultrasonic technology instead of optical. Faster unlocks, works better with wet fingers. Selfie camera runs 32MP.
Camera Setup Gets Interesting
Main sensor uses Sony's LYT-700V at 50MP. Sensor size measures 1/1.56 inches with f/1.88 aperture. OIS stabilization included. That's solid hardware for this price tier.
Second camera is a proper telephoto—50MP using Sony's IMX882 sensor at 1/1.95 inches. It delivers 3x optical zoom (73mm equivalent focal length) with f/2.65 aperture and OIS. Having OIS on both main and telephoto cameras matters for getting sharp shots without blur.
Ultra-wide drops to 8MP at 15mm equivalent. That's the weak link here but most people barely use ultra-wide anyway.
Battery Tech and Durability
Battery capacity hits 6,500mAh using silicon-carbon technology. Charging reaches 90W wired speeds. Vivo claims the Si-C battery handles extreme temperatures better than traditional lithium batteries, though real-world testing will confirm that.
IP68 and IP69 ratings cover dust, water submersion, and high-pressure jets. Drop it in a pool or get caught in heavy rain and the phone survives.
Software Support Improved
Ships with OriginOS 6 built on Android 16. Vivo promises four OS updates plus six years of security patches. That's genuinely good long-term support matching what Samsung and Google offer on flagships.
Pricing and Colors
Base 8GB/256GB model costs ₹51,999 (roughly $571). Top 12GB/512GB version runs ₹61,999 (about $681). Available in Black, Red, and Sand Beige.
Sales start February 26 in India. Whether this stays India-exclusive or expands to other markets wasn't mentioned.
