Xiaomi’s new flagships are already breaking records at home. Within 48 hours of release, the
Xiaomi 17 series sold past the one-million mark,
according to company president Lu Weibing. He said demand has been so strong that factories are now running harder to keep up.
The
Pro Max model has been the star so far, pulling in more than half of those early sales. The regular Pro isn’t far behind. Both sit above the 6,000 Yuan (~$840) price line, showing Xiaomi’s push further into the premium space. Weibing called it a big step forward for the company’s product line.
Not everything was smooth, though. Buyers noticed the standard
Xiaomi 17 didn’t have a 1TB option at launch. Xiaomi quickly answered that by confirming a 1TB version is already in production and will hit shelves on October 5. Pricing is set at 5,299 Yuan (~$745)—about 200 Yuan less than the equivalent Xiaomi 15 from last year.
Weibing pointed out that sales are moving even faster than the Xiaomi 15 series, and he expects this generation to outpace the last in total volume.
There have been reports of short supply for certain configurations, especially high-storage versions, but the company said it will boost production. Even with those bumps, the launch has been its strongest yet, with the higher-end models drawing the most interest.
Xiaomi’s early results suggest its strategy of leaning on premium pricing and bigger storage options is paying off. The first week isn’t over yet, but the 17 series is already one of the fastest-selling flagships the brand has ever released.
