Xiaomi are on the cusp of
launch of the, long over due, Xiaomi Hongmi 2 and chance of 4G LTE support are getting better.
Previously it was believed that the next generation Xiaomi Hongmi 2 would be kitted out with a
5.5-inch display and octacore
MT6592 chipset courtesy of
Meidatek. For 799 Yuan this sounds like quite a phone to behold, but those
specs may have changed.
After the recent update for the original Hongmi to a Qualcomm processor, it is no believed that the Hongmi 2 will benefit from a Snapdragon chipset. The SoC in question is like the Qualcomm MSM8928 which would aloo the phone to work on
WCDMA,
GSM and 4G LTE networks!
Update: Just moments after posting this
news further details have emerged! Contradicting the possibililty of 4G LTE in the Hongmi 2 sources at Wingtech (the company producing the Hongmi) say the new phone is being manufactured now and will NOT have 4G LTE. According to these new
rumours there will be 2 version of the new Hongmi with the high end version having a 2.3Ghz MT6592T octacore processor!
