7-inch Freelander Typhoon 2 offers phone call support and 5200mAh battery at a low price

Smartphone technology moves on at such a fast and exciting pace that it’s is easy to forget about all the great Chinese Android tablets also available, and when those tablets offer all the features of a high-end MTK phone at a similar price it doesn’t hurt either!

There is a growing trend between Chinese tablet makers now for them to adopt the same hardware as the current flagship MTK phones in their easy to pocket 7-inch tablets. We’ve already seen the iPad mini clone from No. 1 and now phone maker Freelander is on the case.

Gizchina News of the week

The Freelander Typhoon 2 boasts a 7-inch 1024 x 600 display, with similar hardware to a Chinese phone of a similar price. That means a quad-core MT6589 CPU, 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM, 2 mega-pixel camera and dual-sim support!

Being a tablet also means you get the benefit of a much larger battery, and the cell in the Freelander Typhoon 2 is a sizeable 5200mAh unit!

Freelander are ready to launch this handy 7-inch later this month with pricing to be around $160.

The idea is great but 1gb of ram, lower screen rez, and minimal storage for apps n such is are anoying downsides. Even the No.1 mini pad looks great till you find out about the low storage & no TF slot. Including a micro SD slot would have made a great device PERFECT!
