As well as launching the waterproofHuawei Glory 3, Huawei also launched a tiny, quad-core Android STB called the MediaQ M310.
Rumours that Huawei had a new Android set top box had been reported over the past few weeks, but it was a surprise when they launched the Huawei MeidaQ M310 last yesterday without prior notice.
Gizchina News of the week
Huawei haven’t divulged the actual hardware but they have mentioned a few features which include an energy efficient Cortex A9quad-core processor with 16 core GPU, support for 19 video codecs as standard and an Airplay style streaming feature.
Pricing has not been confirmed and it isn’t believed the MediaQ M310 will go on sale for a while just yet.
It’s an Android-based PC which can be plugged into, or connected to a TV. It has computing power of a high-end smartphone/tablet which is plenty for browsing/watching HD movies/youtube and some basic gaming.
Why use A9’s?
Its no need to be very energy-efficient because you don’t have a battery for it, like a phone, but use a power cable.
