Top 30 budget quad-core MT6582 Chinese Android phones

Complete listing and specifications of the top 30 budget Chinese Android phones running the all new quad-core MT6582 processor.

A few days ago we published a list of 25 flagship 8-core Android phones with the new Mediatek MT6592 processor, now we are looking at the more affordable end of the scale with a list of 30 new MT6582 quad-core Android phones!

Gizchina News of the week

What is the Mediatek MT6582?

The Mediatek MT6582 is a quad-core processor that runs at 1.3Ghz and designed for use in Android smartphones. Like the MT6589(T) the new MT6582 is based on Cortex A7 architecture but with a ARM Mali400-MP2 GPU. Other distinguishing differences between the MT6582 and MT6589(T) is that the new CPU will only run up to a 720p display and it has been designed with value for money in mind.

zopo zp820 review

With the MT6582, Mediatek hopes that Android phone prices could drop to as little as $100 (they already have here in China), and as we have seen from our own hands on with the Zopo ZP820 low-cost doesn’t necessarily mean low-performance!

The above list is correct at the time of posting. Specification details for some of the models will likely change and more phones will be added as they are announced.

Andi, can you make side-by-side comparison of Antutu scores for 6582 and 6589, but not only final score but all intermediate scores?
I’m very interested what is the difference in GPU speed and also to find out of cpu cores in 6582 are identical to those in 6589. Final score of Antutu seems much higher and I wonder which component drives this increase

No need to think that much. Mtk6589 has a sgx544 GPU, which is far better than a mali. Even being mali 2core i have no doubt that sgx would blow up mali as for gaming performance, so do not pay that much attention on Antutu. I think you better wait till mtk6588, its Gpu mali450 is still less powerful than sgx544 but it is high clocked and 4core so it will give you better performance overall.

Maybe far better technology, but in the real life it sucks.
I had some MTK chipset phones (6589 HD, FHD, 6589T FHD, 6582 HD).
The MT6582 phones performs much better in games (Real Race 3, train sim pro, angry birds space) than any FHD MT6589T.

I didn’t compared to any HD mt6589 phone but i found a Jiayu G4 Real Race 3 test on Youtube and it cleary seems that is more laggy than inew v3
So i think the Antutu score represent the truth.

Will you do something similar for the new MT6588 aswell?
I for myself dont need the power of the 8-Core MT6592 but I like to have 5″ with FullHD resolution (which MT6582 isnt capable of) so the MT6588 should be my best choice.

I wish some manufacturers made a phone with these sort of specs and prices, but with a 4.3-4.5 display… I am not exactly fond of the drift towards phablets – cool for HD movies, browsing, and gaming, but awkward for many other situations.
