More UMi X3 spy photos

The UMi X3 can’t keep away from spy cameras and has been spotted again as a prototype model ahead of launch. It also seems that some of the earlier specifications rumours might not have been as accurate as hoped.

These leaked photos turned up over on the UMi forums at MTKforums.com and show the flaghip UMi X3 in testing in more detail than before. We can see the Meizu style of the phone ramains from the front, which also happens to be where a 5.5-inch LG display is found, while turning the phone to it’s side reveals a SIM card tray suggesting the octacore UMi with have a built-in battery.

Gizchina News of the week

Specifications along with the photos tell of an octacore 2.0 MT6592 (or MT6595 LTE) chipset, 2GB RAM, 14 mega-pixel main camera, NFC, OTG and all the usual smartphone features such as GPS, Bluetooth, WIFI etc. The UMi X3 still seems to be undertesting, but the frequency of these leaks suggest a launch could be just around the corner.

Andi, do you happen to know what the manufacturing costs are for the X2? I couldn’t believe my eyes when the Delhi Air Cargo manifest showed UMI X2 imported at around Rs6,000 or less than USD100. Only a few hundred pieces have been imported till now, all between june to nov 2013, probably from that scam of a company that took advance booking charges. If they are caught indulging in tax fraud, they are looking at criminal charges.

Under invoicing is not really needed because the taxes are a few percent. Not worth the trouble. It could be a way to convert black money to white money by sending the black money in advance to China by Hawala. Or the real UMI company is subsidizing the phones in compensation for marketing costs?
