This weekend we received the 7-inch OrientPhone Mega Pro 7.0, a 7-inch FHD, octacore phablet and a perfect alternative to the CoolPad 9976a!
When 2014 began Chinese phone maker decided it was time that they upped the size of current Android phablets from the usual 6-6.44 inch to a much larger 7-inch! 7-inch might seem like a huge amount of screen to be carrying around, but with recent changes in design and manufacturing advances at smaller Chinese phablet makers, today’s 7-inch phablets aren’t much larger than last years 6.44-inch options, plus they are more comfortable to use and better to look at!
The OrientPhone Mega Pro 7.0 is one of the first 7-inch phablets to go on sale specifically aimed at customers outside of China. Orientdeal have carefully selected components, features and have even included a generous selection of accessories making this 7-incher a very attractive device, and a great all in one (rather carrying a phone and tablet together).
OrientPhone Mega Pro 7.0
The only rival to the OrientPhone Mega Pro 7.0 we can think of is the Coolpad 9976a, 7-inch device, but as the OrientPhone costs just $232.49, comes with 2 x 3500mAh batteries, screen protector, dual SIM and a handy cover, I would say the Mega Pro is a better deal.

Gizchina News of the week
The OrientPhone Mega Pro 7.0 is a really exciting device! 7-inch might sound like a lot but, depending on what you are used to, the Mega Pro 7.0 manages to carry its size very well! As mentioned in the above hands on video, OrientDeal have done a great job a building a 7-inch phone while keeping the overall dimensions down to a minimum!
The 7-inch FHD 1920 x 1200 resolution display is stunning, the quality of the display alone would be enough for me to opt for the OrientPhone Mega Pro 7.0 over the many 7.9-inch Android tablets already on the market! 2GB RAM and an octacore processor are also huge imporvements over similar sized devices, not to mention the 13 mega-pixel camera, dual SIM support, replacable battery and generous accessories!
In the title I say the OrientPhone Mega Pro 7.0 would be a great alternative to the Coolpad 9976A, but in reality I am not sure why anyone would choose any 7.9-inch Android tablet over the Mega Pro, it really is a fine device!
The Orientphone Mega Pro 7.0 is available internationally now from OrientDeal for $232.49.
oh dang, just finished watching your video Andi. Yours must be defective because every video of the Ulefone U7 shows the buttons being back-lit. I can’t imagine that Orientdeal would ask for that essential component to be removed.
The menu and back buttons are back-lit but not the home button(as far as I could tell from watching videos).
Hi Andi. I jut ordered this phone and there’s no indication of an extra battery or case included with the phone nor is it listed on their site. I’d like to order with these items rather than pay extra for them. Do you know how I can do that?
I just checked, 2 pc battery and a smartcover are mentioned are you looking at the same page? http://www.orientdeal.com/OrientPhone-Mega-Pro-7-Inch-Full-HD-Octa-Core-Phablet-with-Smart-Cover.html
Yes, that’s the page I saw but the package content listing at the bottom of the page only lists 1 battery and no case. They just emailed me back & told me that the case is $9.99 and an extra battery is $9.99. I’m trying to cancel my order till they get it sorted out. They’re ignoring that email so far but I’ll challenge it on paypal.
Ah! That is a odd as further up the page they have an image which states 2 batteries…
There is no context in which a 7 inch device is a phone. None. 3G tablet. Call it what it is.
I’m using one and it is a phone in my context. You can call it whatever it is to you.
It’s just a 4 inch wide object, you can hold it fine, unless you have tiny hands. When you cradle it between ear and shoulder to go hands free, it’s even easier on your neck since the grip is more secure and under lesser angle. You’ll find problems with one-handed use or wearing it, but not with holding/talking.
Yeah, having big hands and a good grip on it doesn’t make you look less ridiculous with it covering a whole side of your face. It is not a wielding issue, and it is not a phone. 5.5 inch is borderline,6.0 inch is big,6.44 inch is massive,7.0 is a tablet.Lets not even add a generous dose of bezel to this equation.
Worrying about how you look to others is so childish. I Remember when people said that bluetooth made you look like you were talking to yourself and crazy. If I was to do anything based on other peoples reaction, I wouldn’t exist because me simply breathing would cause someone somewhere a problem. If you think I look wierd with a big phone to my head fine. I’ll just be enjoying my extra screen space.
You still look like your crazy and talking to yourself, they just look less ridiculous sticking out your ear coz they are smaller and better designed. nexus 7 32GB has 4G,do I stick it up to my face to pick calls? No. Do google call it a phone now? NO. That is because it isn’t. Simple.As.That. You want to pick calls with a tablet ,thats you. Nobody is stopping you,but you still look ridiculous and out of the norm even if you don’t care.
Everyone looks ridiculous to somebody 100% of the time. You look crazy for caring what other people think about you. Nobody is stopping you from making your stupid argument, but you still look like an idiot.
There’s a device called bluetooth and hands-free headsets. Many ppl are using it even on phones that are half the size as this.
