JiaYu rumoured to be bringing LTE to current phones

Rumours over on the JiaYu forums suggest we could see our favourite JiaYu models update to LTE later in the year.

A thread appeared on the official Chinese JiaYu forums telling fans that LTE will be coming to some of the more popular JiaYu models. The devices listed included the JiaYu G4, G5, G2, G6 and the ultra-thin JiaYu S2.

JiaYu have a history of upgrading current models to keep up with market demands. The JiaYu G4 for example started life last year with the quad-core MT6589 and later updated to MT6589T and now MT6592 octacore.

Adding LTE to these phones should be relatively simple as Mediatek provide a piggyback modem for current MTK chips. Named the MT6290 the LTE enabled modem can work in conduction with wither the quad-core MT6582 or octacore MT6592.

This isnā€™t the first time an LTE JiaYu phone has been rumoured, the JiaYu F2 is also in development and aims to bring LTE to the masses at only 599 Yuan.

GPS seems Ok on my G4S but I use a Garmin in the car, so it doesn’t bother me anyway.

Even better if they managed to put Kit Kat on their current models, like ALL their major competitors have done already…
