HTC Desire 616 with octa-core chipset launched

After the launch of the HTC One M8, the famous phone manufacturer has gone ahead and launched another member of the Desire family. The phone, named the HTC Desire 616, uses a Mediatek MT6592M chipset to make it a mid-range competitor. This one is pretty much the same as the MT6592, just with a lower CPU clock of 1.4GHz instead of 1.7GHz. But to be honest, you probably won’t notice much performance difference except in some demanding games.

The HTC Desire 616 also gets 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory expandable with a micro SD card, a 5-inch 720p screen,  8 mega pixel rear camera and 2 mega pixel front camera, dual SIM, Blinkfeed support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and a 2,000mAh battery. If you were disappointed with 1GB RAM then you aren’t going to like Android 4.2 either!

The phone is priced at around $272, which is quite a lot considering what rivals are offering at this price. The Xiaomi Mi3 can be had for a simlar price outside of China, and packs much better hardware.
