Oppo Bezel-less phone seen again, really does seem to lack a black edge

In past leaks concerning bezel-less phones, we are usually left with some tiny sliver of bezel, but that does not seem to be the case with the latest Oppo.

Oppo’s bezel-less phone has been seen in a number of leaks over the weeks, and a new up close photo gives us a macro view of the edge of the phone.

The photo seems to show a curved edge, which might be the first implementation of Oppo’ patented ‘clear’ bezel which actually reflect what the screen is showing for a bezel free appearance. Past the glass there is a little black but this is most likely just a layer of bonding agent to attach the screen to the chassis.

We can see the rear panel protrudes slightly from the side for added screen security in the event of a knock or fall.

This Oppo seems to be a variant on the current R line-up which is made up of thin, attractive phones rather than power users, but we will be interested to see if a similar design is incorporated in the upcoming Oppo Find 9.

I must admit the bezeless look is very ugly when accompanied with huge top and bottom bezels. The assymetry is glaring. It would be great if they were to employ lg g3’s top and bottom bezel, though, and it would make for a quite compact device to boot.

Since Oppo tend to have extortionate prices even for average spec phones, I can see this being astronomically priced. It could be released to see how well it’s received before deciding whether or not to implement it in the upcoming find 9.
