Nubia release 3rd Anniversary Edition Nubia Z9 with bezel-less 5.2-inch display at $630

nubia z9

While we still wait for word of the Zubia X8, ZTE release a special edition Nubia Z9 to celebrate Nubia’s 3rd anniversary.

ZTE first unveiled their range of Z9 phones back in May, but a new version of the Z9 was released this week to celebrate the companies 3 year anniversary. This new version of the Z9 comes with a gold finish (naturally) and offers a narrow bezel free design.

Gizchina News of the week

Under the hood the new Nubia flagship comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, 4GB RAM and 64GB of on board storage. The 5.2-inch panel comes from Sharp with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, and HIFI audio comes as standard too.

As usual Nubia have focussed on giving the Z9 advanced camera features built-in to the Nubia ROM (based on Android 5.1) and we expect some great results from the 16 mega-pixel rear and 8 mega-pixel front cameras. Final details include a 2900mAh battery, network support for 18 frequencies and a price tag of 3999 Yuan ($630).

It hasn’t been released yet thats why, the ‘perfect’ phone doesn’t actually exist except in our heads. The Vivo xplay 5s does come close though if the rumoured specs are true, hopefully Vivo will take pity on me and send me an engineer sample to play with!! lol

You and me both. Haven’t had a phone for about 6 months after I dropped my guitar on it and smashed the screen! Waiting for the vivo to come out and be priced around $300 & then I’m in! Lol (yes I know I’m dreaming) ?

vivo are bullies when it comes to pricing … BUT

how on earth does one drop a GUITAR of all things on their phone ?!
one of a kind accident ?

It was only one of my classical guitars, phone was on my bed and i was putting guitar down and it slipped from my grasp. Only from about 2″ height but the nut caught the very corner of the screen and shattered it! Wouldnt mind but a few days before the phone fell screen down onto concrete from about 8 foot without even a scratch!!!

Mmmm … so they’re offering the gold color or what ? They already had the Z9 with the same specs and ( very high ) price since spring.

If the price will ever drop for this then it will be an option to consider but at over $600 no thanks.

Why is GizChina even mentioning Nubia here? You guys only review specific brands and have never reviewed / previewed a Nubia phone, ever.

I don’t know what the issue is, but the bias clearly sticks out – all top Chinese manufacturers’ phones like Xiaomi, Meiziu, Letv etc. have been regularly reviewed on this site, but Nubia/ZTE has always been skipped, without fail.

So these sporadic fillers are completely unnecessary. Save your time and ensure the sporadic fillers are covering Elephone’s fantasy devices or ZOPO’s upcoming disasters.

Goodness me, now all the ‘big’ boys think they are same level as Apple or Samsung. If I fork out $630 USD it will be a Samsung or Apple that’s why we’re in the Chinese market!

What does your Apple or Samsung do that a Chinese phone doesn’t? I wouldn’t pay $630 for any of them especially a Samsung.

In the very least they provide service and warranty in my country and you have a good resell value.

        • balcobomber25
          October 16, 2015

Is service and warranty worth paying over double for your phone? I can completely break my phone and buy a new one and still pay less than what an iPhone costs. But I also have sent a few Chinese phones out to be repaired and had them back in less than 2 weeks, the same time I waited for one of my Nexus phones to be fixed at a “local” repair center.

Yes and no, they are both important in a way. Mostly no that’s why we met here haha, just feel that recently some ‘high end’ Chinese phone are asking way overboard examples are Oppo, Vivo, Zte, Meizu etc

Oppo and Vivo have always charged that much, that is not new. The reason Apple and Samsung are so expensive is because they are sold in the West where subsidizing controls the industry. Subsidizing artificially increases prices so everyone makes more money and the consumer pays more without realizing it. Consumers think they are getting a “free” or discounted iPhone when really they are paying more than double every month than they would pay if they owned the phone outright. This allows Verizon to charge $90 a month for $30 worth of service and Apple to charge $700 for a phone that costs $200 to make (about the same it costs to make a Mi4 or OnePlus).

still that battery of 2900mAh, the worst battery life in a 810 snapdragon phone

    October 16, 2015

I have always admired the looks of Nubia phones (although I prefer bezels) and the cameras have always been very good, but the software has always been garbage. There is no way in hell I would pay $630, close to $700 when you add shipping charges for a ZTE. For that price you can buy a OnePlus 2 (or many other flagships), lose and replace it and still have money left over for a pizza.

Yeah, bezels free design… but DAT FOREHEAD and CHIN o.O

This is an exaggeration. 630 for an fhd phone in era of quad display and a scaled down battery is making mockery of reputation. Should focus on affordability.
