Elephone’s 4K action camera goes on sale from $69.99

Elephone Explorer

In their usual special offer role out, Elephone have started to sell their 4K action camera from $69.99, with pricing increasing as time runs on.

The Elephone Explorer, the 4K action camera with the ELE logo, is now officially on sale with a special launch price of $69.99. This version offer price will begin tomorrow at 3pm. After this first offer pricing will increase to $79.99 on the 24th November, $89.99 on the 28th (with a free 32GB SD card), and finally $89.99 on the 30th.

This action camera appears to be a rebranded version of the various SJCAM cameras already on sale, which isn’t a bad remark as SJ have been making some rather decent cameras recently.

The ELE version has an Allwinner V3 processor, 2-inch display, 900mAh battery, WIFI and will record video at up to 4K, but at only 15fps. Most users will run the camera at either 2.7K at 30fps or 1080p at 60fps.

More details of the Elephone Explorer can be seen over on the Elephone website.

These will sell well if they can keep the price at the 69$ mark. I noticed one site is selling them at 89$ and onyl in black on limited production run of 500 units.

Is that on CooliCool? Do they have free shipping? If so then that price would be right. Example 69$ + 20$ fast delivery.

if this article is from today, and it says that will begin tomorrow maybe only tomorrow will become available at that price!

what blows is none of these gopro clones do video at 1440p/4:3 resolution. this 4:3 resolution is great for framing more of what you’re filming, and if you want to go 16:9 or 16:10 later, you can selectively crop the clips.

      1440p is 16:9 resolution.

            4:3 1440p isn’t 2560 X 1440

            • balcobomber25
              November 20, 2015

There is only one 1440p and it is 2560X1440. There is no such thing as 4:3 1440p. There are other resolutions that use 1440, but they are not 1440p. Just like there are other resolutions that use 1080, but they are not 1080p. 1440p also goes by the name Quad HD they are one in the same, its called Quad HD because it’s 4x the pixels of 720p.

              November 20, 2015

It wasn’t clear at all. If I said 1080p most people here would think 1920X1080.

              November 20, 2015

              But he clearly stated 4:3.
              If you said 4:3 1080p, I would immediately get 1440 X 1080

            • balcobomber25
              November 20, 2015

There is no such thing as 4:3 1080p. When you say that I immediately say this guy is very confused and needs to be set on the straight and narrow path in a way that only BalcoBomber can. For future reference the “P” designations only apply to the following resolutions (all 16:9):

              540P – 960×540
              720P – 1280×720
              900P – 1600×900
              1080P – 1920×1080
              1440P – 2560×1440
              4K – 3840×2160.

The only “P” that exists in 4:3 format is 480P, 640×480. You can’t just make up terms because you think it looks right. These are set terms used in the electronics industry.

1440p 4:3, that is quite funny for someone who learned all about it in junior high. Which would make you about 17. But it is hilarious to continue to watch you try and fail.

              November 20, 2015

OMG you’re still here with that shiet.
Yes, we all know what 1440p means.
And every single person with some common sense can easily get what that user meant when he said “4:3 1440p”. What he meant was OBVIOUS, yet you’re still here, hiding behind a finger, using a mere technicality to prove that you’re right, and smart and all. GROW UP.
He meant 1920 X 1440. Is that to hard to get for your little dry brain? Can you end your parade here?

            • balcobomber25
              November 21, 2015

I asked five co-workers and two friends last night if I said 4:3 1440p what does that mean. Every single one of them said “there is no such thing”.

            • Aldrex Chama
              November 21, 2015

In fact, 4:3 1440p, especially in the action cam market, IS used, by the very famous GoPro.
Nevertheless, as I already said, you are hiding behind a mere naming technicality, as it is OBVIOUS that the guy who said it meant 1920 X 1440. Use your tiny little brain, it’s not hard.

            • balcobomber25
              November 21, 2015

It apparently wasn’t obvious as everyone I talk knew there was no such resolution, and we work in the tech industry unlike you who is still in high school.

Gopro can advertise it as 1440p, but it’s not true 1440p video. There is only one 1440p, for someone who learned all about it in junior high, you still can’t use that tiny brain of yours to figure it out.

            • Aldrex Chama
              November 21, 2015

I KNOW it’s not 1440p, how many times do I have to tell you? But given that he added 4:3, it didn’t take a genius to do 2 + 2 and get that he meant 1920 X 1440.
I AM NOT SAYING THAT 1440p IS 1920 X 1440, I’M JUST SAYING THAT IT’S WHAT THE GUY MEANT! can’t your 4 spare neurons get it?

            • balcobomber25
              November 21, 2015

And what he meant was wrong and still is wrong. For someone who “studied 1440p in Junior high” you would know that. So what class was this in Junior high that you were talking about display resolutions? This is hilarious arguing with you, you spin yourself circles and then try to back track and fail miserably each time.

              1) you think I believe that 1440p is 1920 X 1440
              2) you think I was arguing about 6582 vs 6735
              3) you think I need you to teach me anything
              4) you think A53 is more efficient than A7
              5) you think 64 bit support makes A53 more efficient than A7 (which means 64 bit makes A53 at least 2.25 times more efficient than when it runs at 32 bit, at least in your insane mind)
Also, it’s apparent that reading, writing and comprehending correctly are quite the challenge for you.

holy frickin moley, I just checked my disqus updates, and noticed this

          unbelievable thread. ridiculous 🙂

I believe GoPro actually calls these 4:3 resolutions 960p and 1440p, where the respective horizontal resolutions are 1280 and 1920 (much like 720p and 1080p). I did not know using such nomenclature would provoke such passionate discussion, but nevertheless this is highly amusing to me 🙂

Here are some resources that should clear things up. I realize I’m really late to the discussion, apologies.
