Ex-Apple CEO’s Obi Worldphone will launch a phone in India this month

John Sculley backed Obi Worldphone is all set to re-enter the Indian market after a forgettable stint a few months back.

Obi Worldphone, previously known as Obi Mobiles, launched a new couple of phones in August this year. The SF1 is now set to launch in the very competitive Indian market as early as this month.

The SF1 is powered by the Snapdragon 615 processor, and with that it has either 2GB or 3GB of RAM across two variants (and 16GB/32GB storage, respectively). The 2GB version costs $199, while the 3GB variant is $249.

Other specifications of the Obi Worldphone SF1 include a 5-inch 1920 x 1080p JDI In-Cell IPS display, a 13 mega-pixel rear camera and a 5 mega-pixel front facing camera… all this, with a 3000mAh battery and Android 5.0.2 overlaid with Obi Lifespeed UI.

The phone hasn’t caused ripples in any market which it has sold in, so it’ll be interesting to see what kind a reception Obi Worldphone get in the price-sensitive Indian smartphone market.

You will need more than Jedi Force to succeed, Obi-wan.

This guy was last CEO of Apple in 1993, 14 years before Apple would release their first cell phone. It’s not exactly surprising he has had little success in this industry.

design wise i see no problem, it will appeal to some but “”its no what’s outside what matters, it’s what is on the inside that does”” 😉 and this one is lost in that regard…
