Xiaomi are 5 days away from officially announcing their all metal Redmi 3, but more images have emerged.
This time around we have a good look at the rear of the gold version of the new metal bodied Xiaomi Redmi 3. Like the silver version that was revealed earlier, the gold model has that same crosshatching rear pattern.
- UPDATE: Xiaomi have now officially told us that the Xiaomi Redmi 3 will actually have a 4100mAh battery. More details here.
Xiaomi are obviously not shy with showing off their new 5-inch budget phone but so far they haven’t revealed specifications, so thank goodness for leaks.
Gizchina News of the week
TENAA have once again spilled the beans revealing that the Xiaomi Redmi 3 is going to have a huge 4000mAh battery inside the 8.5mm body. Past TENAA leaks confirmed a 1.5Ghz octacore chipset (Snapdragon 616?), 2GB RAM and HD display.
We will have to wait for the official announcement on the 12th January to see if there any other hidden features in the new Redmi. Expect MIUI 7 and a 699 price tag!
What are your opinions on the new rear design and that pattern?
You hardly need a fhd screen on a 5 inch phone. A good quality 720p improves the battery life and price
Looks like no micro sd again
If they can cram a 4k mah battery into a 5″ phone then I expect a 5k mah battery in a 5.5″ phone this year.

Thanks, but I don’t really care about 2nd tier manufacturers like ulefone or uhans. I only care about 1st tier manufacturers like xiaomi, ZUK, lenovo… I’m currently using a ZUK Z1, a 5.5″ phone with 4100mah battery, the biggest among 1st tier manufacturers last year. I really expect they can push it to 5k mah this yeah and keep the same thinness.
Thanks, interesting choice! But there’s 2 things about it that I’m not happy about.
First is the thickness, this Zenfone is 10.55mm thick, that’s too much. The ideal thickness in my opinion is 8-9mm like this Redmi 3 @ 8.5mm.
Second is the specs, this Zenfone is clearly an entry level phone with entry level specs. I would prefer to have flagship specs and big battery! 😀
there is gionee which is a first tier mann and Oppo they both got 5-6k mah phones

You too Xiaomi? Thank god at least LG is keeping removable batteries in their phones. Even if it was 3500Mah and removable battery, it would’ve been a better choice. There’s nothing more convenient than having an additional battery and an external charging dock. You’ll never have to plug in your phone again.
I’ve never replaced my battery manually before, is it so hard to find a charger?
I have to agree with the first one ,
in my experience batteries lose gradually their capacity.
After 6 months you are let’s say at 80% of the actual capacity.
That’s why I try to avoid non removable. At least with the removables you can replace your battery every 6 months.
that’s good, lucky COP21 is over, I can see nobody gives a shit anymore about over consumption. Batteries are so so easy to recycle, and very not source of pollution. Why not replace them every month, or no wait… every day… wait … and please, throw them away in the forest of in the river. Thank you.
I haven’t had a need to remove a battery since around 2011 when software was so terrible the only way to fix phone freezes was a battery pull. Since then though I have never had the need to even touch the battery let alone replace it.
It’s hard to notice the 20% of so degradation of the battery every year. I knew it only when I bought my second battery a year after the phone and kept switching between the two. I really didn’t mind when half the industry had non removable battery. I could easily pick a phone with a removable one. Now it’s almost non existent.
Until I start working and earning for myself, I think it’s unfair to push my parents to buy me a phone every year. I have to pick my phones with foresight. And so battery matters to me.
YMMY
Where are you getting your degeades 20% from? Just curious who the source of that figure is.
300 charge cycles. So if you charge your phone once a day, you use 365 cycles a year. I am a heavy user and I have to charge it almost twice a year. I said it hard to notice because it is a gradual degradation and not a sudden 20% drop. Moreover I attributed the shortage in battery life to the use. Because we add more applications through the course of the year and also clutter the phone, battery life begins to worsen. I though that was the reason until I popped in a new battery and could see clear difference between the two.
If you completely drain your phone twice a day you would see 20% drop in 150 days.
Looks like no micro sd again
