Elephone ask fans to put the final touches to the Elephone S3

Elephone have opened a questionnaire up on their website asking fans to choose their own specification features for the upcoming Elephone S3.

The S3 looks (from renders) like a really nice unibody metal phone, but although we have seen the device teased a few times it doesn’t look like the Elephone team are quite ready to release it just yet.

Over on the Elephone website, the company is asking fans to take part in a questionnaire to speak freely about what features they are looking forward to most.

From the questions we can see that part of the hardware is already decided on including a large battery, USB Type C, NFC etc but it appears that a final processor choice hasn’t been make yet.

Gizchina News of the week

Options for the chipset include the Mediatek MT6753, MT6735 or the more potent (and likely fan favourite) Mediatek Helio P10 chipset. There are also memory options too which might indicate two variants will be available at launch.

The pohne looks really good, if it wouldnt have the beloved ELE-Bezels(tm). Helio P10 would also be good in a 2016 phone

i think the most important features that should be added is “no lies” and “customer support”? never use elephone before though. just heard bad things about them. a lot!

In 2017 it will be listed? Please stop all kinds of activities, it’s just meaningless hype, elephone lied many times.

Everyone knows Elephone will do whatever is cheapest and claim that is what fans picked. And then they will release a few models to the media, proclaim manufacturing (or some other) issue and consumers won’t be able to buy it till 7 months from now. Shady company.

Hm, from what I am reading on Gizchina you shouldn’t buy Elephones and you also shouldn’t buy Umis

        Umi isn;t too bad

UMI is horrible but Elephone is worst.

            March 21, 2016

UMI is far worst than elephone. They straight up lie about their phone specs. Specially with their recent UMI Rome debacle.

You can read about Elephones all over the web. Same results.

The problem is them getting the phones to market. The next is having so many phone that are pretty much the same specs.

I cannot know about the other points, but (about the 2nd point), P8000 is close to reach nightly status: http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-1-p8000-t3259022

The only outstanding issue is the fingerprint sensor but from what I read they’re rewriting the HAL from scratch as we speak.

If it does ascend into nightly status, I think it will be the first chinese phone to do so, so fast.

So they succeeded , at least with that phone (OK the community helped more to be fair), in that point.

        March 18, 2016

The P8000 is the exception. They need to step up to newer phones like the Vowney and P9000. I’ve already been informed they will release code for P9000.

      March 19, 2016

What do you mean by “they have lost respect with customers”? That would imply they had some to start with, they didn’t so completely useless comment right there.

What do you guys think about the Elephone M3 (3gb version)?

    • IWannaBeTheGuy
      March 18, 2016

I saw it and considered it, but after all the research i did on elephone, it seems like thir quality control is really low (i dont know how it is with the new ones like the p9000, but i would wait for more user experiences), the M3 probably went trough the same quality control as the p8000, and if you read Android Authority’s review on it, their unit was really badly put togheter, the phone came with dust inside the screen.

        March 18, 2016

Okay, so I better look out for the Meizu M3 Note then. (or Ulefone Future, if it isn’t too expensive)

Is the P9000 shipping yet? It was supposed to start shipping in February and on coolicool’s site they’re saying not until mid-April.

I put down $5 on the P9000 because there was going to be a “B” with support for 4G/LTE in the U.S. That phone was supposed to start shipping in April and maybe it will but I haven’t seen anything on it since the end of their pre-order campaign back in January.

Youtube reviews on the P9000 have been very favorable but in typical Elephone fashion the phone is already delayed by almost 2 months.

    Elephone just does not impress.

I wrote them this, but the Submit button is not working (just like their phones, LOL):

“It’s not always the specs… I think for a price under $130 (presell under $100), it would be great to see the MTK 6735 with 2GB RAM+16GB ROM (32GB could be better). I also want to see a big battery (real 3000+mAh) with Fast Charge and the best of all, make a good Android 6 ROM with NO bugs!! You Elephone and ECOO always mess up with the ROM and you never give Updates, so your phones are rubbish, even with good specs… Also, I want to see 1080p screen and Metal Body for more beauty. Thank you.”

Ulefone future will probably be a better phone, so maybe they should just make it with m6753 to offer a lower price.

Ah finally Elephone advertising a phone that emphasized the model “FUTURE”.

I think what they mean this unit will only available in the future-ish, like 10 years from now LOL

I think we should be beware of this brand until their products has been tested by a reputable independent reviewer.
