BLU Vivo 5R specifications, pricing

BLU is gradually but certainly chipping away at the unlocked phones market, which is appealing to a wider audience every passing day. The newest from BLU’s stable is the BLU Vivo 5R, a $200 device.

The BLU Vivo 5R is a 5.5-inch phone with a 1080p display, and the kind of tech we’ve seen in $120-150 phones from China throughout this year. Let’s take a look at the full specs.

not too bad. i know many will poo-poo the processor, but i believe its the same as the one in my BLU R1 HD and it works surprisingly well.
just hope the speaker is better on this one, but wish they’d put it on the bottom instead of the back.

Overpriced obsolete Xiaomi wannabe. Many competitors with same specs are 100$ cheaper. BLU it is 2016. Wake up!

Truly overpriced. In the US market Moto G4, Huawei 5x, and Idol 3 all have similar specs and 5.5″ screens, but can generally be had for less. The only thing this brings to the table is the fingerprint sensor.

Except those phones you mentioned are currently selling for the same or higher on most of the popular sites:

        Honor 5X – $199
        Moto G4 – $229

Neither of those phones are anything better than this Blu Phone. They are all about equal in terms of specs/value. The Idol 3 can be found for as low as $140 but it has the terrible SD615 and 2GB of RAM.

So you will have no problem listing all these competitors with the same specs for $100? (Keep in mind most $100 Chinese phones don’t have US LTE). Compared to Chinese phones it is a bad deal, compared to US phones it is about average.

I mean some near tech phones like Doogee F5 or VKworld G1 Giant. They are about 100$ cheaper, but I don’t know about their US LTE support. If LTE US band support make this phone to 80$ expensively then… I have nothing to say.

Doogee is one of the worst brands when it comes to quality. The F5 is currently selling for $124 on Gearbest that doesn’t include any import taxes, in some countries that could push the price to well over $150. It would be virtually useless in the US because not only does it not support any US LTE bands, but it also has limited 3G bands. What you would have is a 2G or WiFi device for $150. I would rather pay $200 and have a better phone, from a better brand, with full network support.

Once again compared to Chinese phones it is bad value, compared to phones that sell in the US it is average.
