Can’t see how this is any different from every other phone out there. The recipe of the year seems to be 5.5″FHD display, MT SoC, 13/5mp cameras, 3000mAh battery. This doesn’t stand out from any other phone out there unfortunately, especially with the weak P10.

China market are indeed weird. I can give example those darn low spec huawei, Oppo, etc selling at high price and yet they are top seller brand there.

So my theory is most china buyers only see the giant ADs with a lot of top singers, actors, actress promoting those premium china brands. They heck care about hardware/software spec.

p10 is a shitfuck mistake as usual.. they COULD have delayed this to the END of the year , worked on getting either p20 shipments OR snapdragon 652 OR even wait for 653 (which was JUST announced)

i have no qualms with the other specs (expect maybe a bigger screen would have been better or a 2k screen with same size as listed !) but the CPU is utter DIPSHIT !

price is an absolute flub as well … all in all a DISAPPOINTING one from Vernee !

maybe the Mars Pro will have something new to offer !

So you are going ok with this phone @lazarprodanovic:disqus ? I was looking at this phone a while back and was hoping for a review on this site. Doesn’t look like the review will ever happen. I have seen a few varying issues with camera and audio for that handset from different forums. Where did you buy yours from? What release is it on?

About Alcatel Flash 2 Plus I know from the other reviews around the net. Only flow concerning it that I know is that you need to use screen protector glass as the used Dragontrail glass isn’t exactly even close to Gorila. I know you can get it in Philippines as Alcatel is pretty much popular there. Best regards.

I’m going to ignore the paper specs let’s see how it actually performs camera and etc

    • Lazar Prodanovic

Blu is selling the Pure Xr for $300 with the P10. But that’s also the US market where most prices are inflated and they are an established brand. Vernee should have priced this closer to $200.

After a certain price point you are just better of getting a phone from your local shop and you are worry free for at least 2 years. Even if the phone cost around 400 $ it might be a better deal then a phone that costs 250 on aliexpress.

400$ isn’t usually a budget phone but a mid-ranger. And yes you are worry free for 2 years. When the phone starts acting up or you just break it you just just return it to the shop you got it from and they well fix it for you or just replace it. And in some cases you have to pay a small fee if it was your fault. Returning a phone to China to make use of the joke warranty is actually big gamble. I speak from experience since I returned a tablet and since the seller apparently never received it was out of luck and money.

          • Yeti hand
            September 13, 2016

In which world do you live i’m curious because you’re surely not from our world! Also there is a huge gap between 250 dollars and 400 dollars you make no sense.
if we follow your opinion samsung is trash since they refused to repair my s2 back in the day. One or 2 bad experience do not make you the center of the world.
One last thing this phone is a let when you look at the processor but vernee is one of the best chinese brand right now so keep your ” it’s a gamble” for another brand.
Have a nice dream in your delusional world 🙂

    • balcobomber25
      September 13, 2016

The problem is on sites like Kimovil you can find the Mi5 ($270) and Zuk Z2 ($242), with better specs for less money. Most consumers are going to go with the more powerful and better equipped phone than the no name brand. $250 is too much for a brand like this.

      • quodvadis
        September 13, 2016

consumers with brain won’t put up with limited storage in today’s ever increasing need of huge data for apps and games, but hey.

        • balcobomber25
          September 13, 2016

Depends on the consumer and their needs. Many consumers today are taking advantage of cloud services for everything they do. Google Photos instead of storing photos locally, Spotify and Play Music instead of storing music directly on their devices and Netflix, Vudu and Hulu instead of videos. For a lot of consumers increased storage isn’t the requirement it once was especially with more and more data plans switching to an unlimited model.

            September 13, 2016

lol if you believe so. I guess the reason why S7 and Note 7 were so hugely popular was not because samsung ‘listened’ and put the slot card back, nope not at all. lol.

            • balcobomber25
              September 14, 2016

The S7 and Note 7 were so popular because Samsung is the number 1 Android phone brand in the world. It would have sold well even if it didn’t have an SD card. The Note 7 is a pocket grenade and it still sold well. Dont kid yourself into thinking your little SD card had that much of an effect.

        September 13, 2016

My comment really was not about this company it was about the fact people always keep thinking that because a phone comes from China some how the price must always be a cheap one

        • balcobomber25
          September 13, 2016

It’s not so much that it comes from China, its that it comes with $200 specs from an unknown brand. Unknown brands should be sold cheap no matter what country they are from, until they can establish a name for themselves.

          • Bailey
            September 14, 2016

To be honest that is every phone that is reviewed on this website we only know about them because we are into phones. If the quality is there in the build and components (not saying this is quality) I don’t see why it has to be sold cheap. Because if that was the case the Nubia Z11 should be cheaper in price as they have shot themselves in the foot with price they want for it in Europe

            • balcobomber25
              September 14, 2016

Nubia isn’t an unknown brand making it second phone. The Nubia brand has been around for years, we know just about everything about. Vernee we know very little of.

I am not sure how 299 euro is equal to “shot themselves in the foot”. It is a SD820 phone with specs similar to every other 299 euro SD820 phone including OP3, Honor 8 and Axon 7.

            • Bailey
              September 14, 2016

Hi much mind share does Nubia have in US & Europe? Yes they are well known in China but if you coming in the UK and selling your phone for over £400 why wouldnt buy something else how many Nubia do you see in the states out in the wild

            • balcobomber25
              September 14, 2016

Some consumers will buy something else, some already know the ZTE brand from tech sites such as this one and major UK and US sites that all cover the brand. Those people will buy the Nubia, just like they bought the OP3 when it launched. If Vernee launched a phone with these specs in the Us or Europe a segment of people would buy it. Vernee’s biggest problem is the specs, they don’t match the price

            • Bailey
              September 14, 2016

Its overpriced for a device that is not well known in the US or the UK. Your expecting people to spend over £400 for a brand that hardly anyone knows in the UK the one plus 3 is competitive in price and maybe a little more known. Yes it is connected with Zte bit they are not selling it that way. I am not talking about tech heads I am talking about the every day Joe go up to people and ask them if they heard of the Nubia and if you live in the UK that you are going to put over £400 on it

            • balcobomber25
              September 14, 2016

It is not overpriced, it is competitively priced with devices that have the same hardware. There is no such consumer as the “every day Joe”. Every consumer is different and can’t be lumped into one specific category. Consumers shop for goods in a number of ways and most consumers do some type of research online before making a major purchase such as a phone. It will be very easy for those consumers to research Nubia and see them covered and reviewed on every major tech site in the West. It will also be every easy for those consumers to compare the specs/price of the Nubia to other phones currently selling and perceive whether it is or isn;t a good deal. With Vernee consumers have limited resources, there is no brand history with them and the specs/price doesn’t match up with other phones. That is why your example is wrong.

            • Bailey
              September 14, 2016

OK I am wrong and you are correct in every single thing that you have said. So when you are around people who don’t read tech sites or have a major interest in mobile phone technology. Ask the if they have ever heard about the Nubia z11 (I am sure you have better things to do but ask them) my daily driver is a Mi5 so many times people say to me is that a Samsung handset. When I tell them its Xiaomi mi5 there like what’s that. Xiaomi have had been reviewed on the every tech site even major called The verge in fact they have even been on Major US news programme in the US and even been covered on BBC news true that don’t have any product but accessories that they sell. But yes you are totally wrong and I don’t know anything. And the fact that you keep mentioning the Vernee when I made it clear that in was really talking about China phones in general. But can we move on 🙂

            • balcobomber25
              September 14, 2016

This article in question is about a Vernee phone. The people I know who don’t read tech sites have a Samsung or an iPhone so it is a moot point to ask them as these types of phones are never intended for them. The people who phones like the Z11, OP3 and Mi5 are intended for (outside of China) know about them, and those people number in the tens of millions if not hundreds of millions.

            • Bailey
              September 14, 2016

I am not talking about people who read tech sites if you look up the Nubia website they don’t mention Zte. And I can only speak for the UK a very large amount of people don’t know who Nubia is and would not spend so much money on an unknown. Phone contracts are not dead in the USA. We are so much further ahead when it come to buying a phone of contract in the UK and other parts of Europe

            • balcobomber25
              September 14, 2016

Once again you are making blanket statements and applying them to a whole group of people. Last time I checked you aren’t the voice of the UK. By Phone contracts I meant subsidizing (getting a phone for free in exchange for a 2 year agreement) those are no longer available for most companies. More and more people, especially those with less than perfect credit which is the majority of the US, have to buy their phones now out of pocket. Many can’t afford a $800 S7 so instead are searching out cheaper unlocked phones. That is why the Honor 8, Idol 4S, Axon 7 and OP3 are huge successes in the US market this year. Many of those brands struggled to sell in the US in years past because of subsidizing.

I feel like chinese oems have gone crazy with pricing recenty. First UMi
plus, now this. Noone is going to buy it. Over $200 people look for a

No you got it wrong. I don’t have that phone, still hanging with this old chunk pile of…

All do it still serves me good.

The problem is on sites like Kimovil you can find the Mi5 ($270) and Zuk Z2 ($242), with better specs for less money. Most consumers are going to go with the more powerful and better equipped phone than the no name brand. $250 is too much for a brand like this.

if we follow your opinion samsung is trash since they refused to repair my s2 back in the day. One or 2 bad experience do not make you the center of the world.
One last thing this phone is a let down when you look at the processor but vernee is one of the best chinese brand right now so keep your ” it’s a gamble” for another brand.

    • balcobomber25
      September 13, 2016

It’s not so much that it comes from China, its that it comes with $200 specs from an unknown brand. Unknown brands should be sold cheap no matter what country they are from, until they can establish a name for themselves.

    • quodvadis

lol if you believe so. I guess the reason why S7 and Note 7 were so hugely popular was not because samsung ‘listened’ and put the slot card back, nope not at all. lol.

    • Yeti hand
      September 14, 2016

      50kms from paris

      September 15, 2016

This article in question is about a Vernee phone. The people I know who don’t read tech sites have a Samsung or an iPhone so it is a moot point to ask them as these types of phones are never intended for them. The people who phones like the Z11, OP3 and Mi5 are intended for (outside of China) know about them, and those people number in the tens of millions if not hundreds of millions.

    • balcobomber25
      September 15, 2016

To be fair Vernee have been good on software updates. 5 so far with their first device Thor and 2 for the Apollo Lite.
And they are not so “unknown” anymore with official stores in Germany, Spain and recently Romania.
I think they try to build up the brand in a long term perspective.

No, they aren’t going well. The Vernee Thor has still many bugs unfixed and the Apollo Lite has software bugs and hardware problems! Vernee doesn’t look good at all…

to be honest, we should compare them with the other China brands we know, Vernee is doing better job than any others so far, i will give them a shoot

Own a Apollo Lite and have no issues so far. Probably the best phone I had and I had many to compare with.

Sony IMX258 is a very capable sensor, this should be the best camera phone Vernee ever produced.
Shame they went with the P10 instead of X20, would have made a great deal if it had the X20!

And now the price was announced, it’s a P10 but priced like an X20 if not even higher, seriously ?
I can just get a Xiaomi with an X20 and a 4000 mAh battery rather than a P10 powered phone with a 3000 mAh battery.

If you are in eg. Europe and are looking at Vermeer phones then you know the specs and you know a P10 performs way worse than an X20. So even if the build looks good there is no chance in hell you will take the Mars over the Apollo Lite. A real shame here.

Sadly, the phone is not attractive for me since it couldn’t reach the tax free barrier (which is below 200 dollars). Also is only an Helio P10, instead of at least an underclocked X10…

Seems that Uber is stopping helping them in finances.

Vernee has lost traction with me. They keep avoiding the flagship.
