Xiaomi Mi 2/2S getting MIUI 9, 5 years after its launch


Well that’s what I call respect towards the customer. According to recent news from the official MIUI English forum, Xiaomi decided to include the 5 year old Mi 2 and Mi 2S model in the list of devices that are getting MIUI 9, which is set to launch on July 26 alongside the Xiaomi Mi 5X.

These are great news for almost 5 million Xiaomi Mi 2 and Mi2S owners out there (according to official statement by Xiaomi CEO Lei Yun) and a blessing for a durable smartphone with a removable battery and decent specs even for these days. Xiaomi announced the – very long – list of compatible devices for the upcoming MIUI 9 update (for China ROM at first) so have a look if your phone is included: MIUI 9 (China ROM): Mi 6, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5s, Mi 5c, Mi 5, Mi 4S, Mi 4c, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi 2/2S, Mi MIX, Mi Max 2, Mi Max, Mi Note 2, Mi Note/Pro, Mi Pad 2, Mi Pad 1, Redmi Note 4X (MTK), Redmi Note 4X (SD), Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 3 (MTK), Redmi Note 3 (SD), Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note, Redmi Pro, Redmi 4X, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, Redmi 4 Prime, Redmi 3S/Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 2A, Redmi 2/Prime, Redmi 1S, Redmi 1.

    Nothing but respect for updating almost all of their phones. However, newer Android version(some are still on Kit Kat I believe)and faster updates would be nice

      Xiaomi still MIUI i think. Android update won’t give much impact to them
