Gizchina News of the week

  • Display: 5.5-inch
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080p
  • Processor: Snapdragon 625
  • RAM: 4GB
  • ROM: 64GB
  • Rear Cameras: 12 megapixel dual cameras
  • OS: Android 7.1 based MIUI 9
  • Battery: 3080mAh

As seen from the spec sheet above, the Mi 5X is a cheaper alternative to Xiaomi’s own Mi 6, which itself is a fairly decent phone for not a lot of money.

Pretty much everything about the Mi 5X was available on the web before the launch today.

Xiaomi Mi 5X Pricing and Variants

Coming to the pricing, Xiaomi have been aggressive with the numbers as they usually are; the phone has been priced at 1499 yuan or $220, making it a fairly accessible mid-range phone.

The phone will be available in a total of three color variants, equivalents of gold, rose gold, and black. I’m going for the black one.

Sorry, Yash, but I can’t see this as a OP5 alternative. The Mi6 and OP5 already go head to head. As much as I like the sd625, I don’t see much cross shopping between sd625 and sd835 equipped phones. With that being said, if this had a 4000mah battery it would be on my shopping list. As it is, I’ll wait for the redmi note 5, Lenovo k7 note and meizu m6 note to be released

CLICKBAIT LEVEL OVER 8000. Comparing an sd625 with a Specs Beast like an OP5?
REALLY? I’m not a big OP fan but i feel ashamed for you guys, after reading mi5x’s specs.

Baseless comparison with OP5 – Just because the shape of the phone is similar to OP5, you cannot brand it as alternative to OP5

How can you compare a SD625 to SD835? 4GB vs 8GB? MIUI to Oxygen. Market all you like, it’s not like for like.

Open your mind people that buys the most expensive devices dont know what sd625 or ad835 is take of the geek glasses people who knows about the specs dont make the industry any money the majority of people just care about how the phone looks and its brand image

Im sorry this is the truth people dont even know what miui and oxygen os is, this phone is marketed to those people tech enthusiast like me and you keep thinking that others think our way and thats not reality

But that’s not the argument being made. It might be shaped like a Oneplus 5, but it certainly isn’t. Yea sure – your average person might think so – but your average person probably isn’t buying the OP5 or a Xiaomi mi5X – these are geek phones. Outside of China people in Europe *might* have heard of Oneplus or Xiaomi, but they’re not gonna buy either. So whilst you might be correct in your assumption of markets – the argument being made is that this one is *not* comparable to the OP5.

$220 is probably the release price, see the OP5 release price and the today’s price.
In an month the price will drop under $200. Then I will sell my redmi pro to buy this 5x.

If you don’t care much about camera improvements, the RN4 is still a better value for money choice.

A Snapdragon 625? 4GB? How is that competition for the OP5? Load of rubbish. Yes, it’s low cost phone but nothing like a rival to the OP5.
