Honor View 10 with Kirin 970, bezel-less display, dual cameras launched

Honor View 10

If you held out on the Huawei Mate 10 line simply because of its price, then this is your chance to get your hands on similar flagship grade specs from Huawei. The Chinese phone maker’s sub-brand, Honor, just launched Honor View 10 at an event in the UK. In a nutshell, the View 10 a.k.a the Honor V10 carries much of its DNA from the Mate line minus the price. As you might very well be aware, there are compromises with low price tags. But Honor has done pretty well to walk the tight budget rope.

Talking about the creamy stuff, the Honor View 10 comes with the Kirin 970 SoC supported by 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Also, the “View” in the label stands for that thin bezel screen which measures 6-inches. In terms of resolution, it has 1080 x 2060 ppi density or Full HD +. So, performance is where the View 10 will shine the most. Huawei’s flagship rear camera with a 20 MP + 16 MP combo also makes its way on board the View 10 chassis. Something that will also weigh heavily in favour of the View 10 is Android Oreo. The handset comes with the latest Android OS mixed up with EMUI 8.0. That might be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you view EMUI.

Of course, we have to talk about the trade-offs. That, we feel is mainly in battery life. The View 10 carries a 3,750 mAh cell with fast charge. Though Huawei claims a 90 minute charge time, the battery itself seems inadequate for a 6-inch screen. There is a 13 MP selfie shooter at the front which will only be judged after it is put through its paces. Also, Honor places the fingerprint sensor at the front of the thin bezel display. Something very unconventional for 18:9 aspect ratio displays. The handset has a hybrid SIM card slot that supports LTE on both SIMs simultaneously.

Honor View 10 Pricing and Availability

Coming to one of the most compelling aspects of the phone the Honor View 10 costs 499 Euros or around $499 approx. At around a 40% discount compared to Huawei’s Mate 10, this is a bargain, even with those tradeoffs. The View 10 will be released in the US other major European markets like the UK on January 8, 2018. India will also have their chance to buy the handset on the same date.

I think it also lacks the Leica spec camera’s and OIS. Nevertheless a decent priced phone.3750mAh should be adequate.
