Chinese manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, is one company that is committed to expansion and has been doing that extensively since the end of last year. Having conquered India, the second largest smartphone market in the world, the company is now drifting west to India’s comparatively small neighbor – Bangladesh. Due to the close geographical affinity between India and Bangladesh, there should be sizable Xiaomi phone users in the country already but officially, the company just penetrated Bangladesh and it’s doing so with Redmi S2, Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5 said Manu Kumar Jain, Vice President and Managing Director of Xiaomi India.
As of now, these phones will be available online via Daraz Bangladesh (daraz.com.bd) and it will be available to offline sales soon. According to Mr. Kumar, the 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB variants of the Redmi S2 will be available for Tk. 14,999 ($177) and Tk. 17,999 ($212) respectively while the Redmi 5 will sell for Tk. 13,999 ($165).
Official sales are expected to commence by 8:00 AM GMT (2PM Bangladesh Time) on July 26.
