vivo's X500 Ultra Confirmed for Launch in Spring 2027

vivo has confirmed that its next Ultra flagship is still on track for a 2027 launch. The X500 Ultra is expected to arrive around March or April next year.

The information comes from Huang Tao, vivo's vice president, from when he spoke to the media after the company's X500 series launch event on September 21.

Huang Tao said the X500 Ultra will get its usual yearly update, what he also said is that vivo wants to create a bigger camera gap between the Ultra and the X500 Pro Max. A change in hardware this big could be the deciding point of wich one to buy now.

The company is already testing several camera options with one setup using a 50MP sensor with a large stabilization system for handheld shooting, and another option useing a much larger 200MP sensor.

vivo could still change the hardware before mass production begins tho. The exact sensors should therefore be treated as possible options for now.

The X500 series is the first vivo lineup to include a Pro Max model alongside the Ultra. Huang Tao confirmed that the Pro Max will remain part of the lineup in future generations.

That means vivo plans to keep both models at the top of its X series. The Pro Max will sit below the Ultra, rather than replacing it.

The two phones will need to have clear hardware differences. The X500 Pro Max already includes a 200MP periscope telephoto camera and other high-end hardware.

vivo has not given a specific launch date for the X500 Ultra. March or April 2027 is currently the company's target window.

The company's previous Ultra launches have not always followed their original schedules. Because of that, the spring 2027 window could still change as development continues.
