Xiaomi Pocophone F1 Hands-On Video and Storage Options Leaked

Xiaomi recently announced their new sub-brand in India called “POCO”. The Pocophone F1 is expected to be the first phone in the new lineup. There’s not a lot left to imagine thanks to an earlier listing on a Romanian store. This time around, a hands-on video and the storage options of the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 have leaked.

Gizchina News of the week

The hands-on video confirms what we saw on the Romanian site’s listing. The phone will sport a rather wide notch up top with a chin thicker than the Mi 8’s. There’s a headphone jack up top and the USB Type-C port sits on the bottom with the speaker and the microphone grills flanking it. The phone has a dual camera setup and a fingerprint scanner on the back. The phone will come with MIUI 9.

Another leak that has surfaced has thrown light on the three variants of the Pocophone F1. Apparently, the phone will be available in three variants, 6GB+64GB, 6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB. The 6GB variants will be available in 4 colours, red, blue, grey and something called gradient. I’m assuming gradient will be the texture and not some colour. The 8GB variant will be available in all colours except the Red one and will instead have a Kevlar variant. As far as the pricing is concerned, since Xiaomi is launching this phone in India, it will likely start with a sub $500 pricing going all the way up to $600.

Its good to know that its still going to use MIUI instead of something new. Although stock android would be appreciated by many i guess. That kevlar variant got me excited 😀

It’s a Mi8 without compromises. In addition to the Mi8 you get a bigger battery, expandable storage and a 3.5mm jack. If the Poco wouldn’t have that notch then I think it would be perfect device for many Xiaomi fans.

Maybe there are people like me who are interested in cheaper “flagship” devices which have little to no end compromises?
I mean look at the Mi8. Battery too small, no expandable storage and no 3.5mm jack.
The Poco F1 doesn’t have these down sides. The only thing I don’t like is the notch design.

Exactly, its appealing to more people by adding just those things and removing that striking similiarity to Iphone X when it comes to the back of Mi8. Maybe its going to interest more people thanks to not so obvious connection to Xiaomi.

I guess I just don’t like how it looks on the back, gives me a Redmi Note vibe..
We’ll see when reviews come out, hopefully I’m wrong and it looks great. That’s me though, maybe you don’t care at all about looks and are only interested in performance/features.

They have some kind of modified MIUI…
This device is just to counter the threat of Honor Play in selective markets like India where they won’t launch Mi 8 series since they got their hands badly burnt with Mi5 and MiMix 2…
